I am going to try and post my final rankings tomorrow or Friday before the states. I might leave Salazar of the list, just to * off the West Warwick supports. They are the only people constantly *ing about the rankings. They forget that my opinion doesn't mean anything, and it is just for fun

152 salazr is a good wrestler what bad losses does he have? Salazar only has 1 bad loss to the EG kid. He has also been in the finals in EVERY tournament he has wrestled in this year (4). Yet the kid doesn't get any credit.

I guess that's why the have to wrestle. We can pontificate all we want, bottom line is the kids have to go out and handle the pressure. The fun part about 152 is that there are guys who literally can throw a top ranked kid to their back. Every year there are upsets, every single year. So Friday should be fun.

the real test of how deep a weight class is will come at new englands. Just bc a weight class has 9 guys who could realistically get on the podium doesn't mean it's strong....it simply means they are all on the same level....now if 2 out 3 go on and place at new englands then you can tell me it's was a deep weight class. I see about 11 weights where at least one kid can make a deep run and get on the podium at new englands. ..anyone else see something different?

I 100% agree shoot, that's why I find it ridiculous when people make comments like a certain wt class cannot get an OW out of it because its not deep enough !!!! Its fair game for all on Friday and I hope too see many upsets and in my eyes the BEST wrestlers will stand on the podium.....The winers and sallies will be on here the next day with every excuse in the book....... LETS GO UNDERDOGS!!!! A great wrestler does not need a certain place in a bracket you just have to be able to outwrestle your opponent wherever they may fall.. Good Luck all !!!!!

Hendricken is good because they are allowed to have students attend their school from the whole state and parts of massachusetts. They shouldnt be competing in RI. I was looking through the forum to see how some of my old friends and teammates have been doing, and seeing this really stuck out. Hendricken is a team that single-handedly makes wrestling in RI better. It's extremely important for wrestlers in RI to be exposed to as high a level of competition as is possible if they hope to compete beyond high school. Furthermore, why wouldn't we want to have a quality team like Hendricken as part of our state tournament? A state as small as Rhode Island absolutely NEEDS teams like this and other private schools to add legitimacy to each individual's state title. By making it easier to win a title, especially in a state of so few wrestlers, we would only serve to make wrestling in our state weaker. It's not fair to each kid who works each season with the goal of becoming a state champion to delegitimize his/her accomplishment by taking away some of the best competition they would have faced. Winning a state title loses a lot of its appeal if it comes with the asterisk of not having actually competed against the best that the state has to offer. I understand that the argument has more to do with the ability of public schools to win a team title, but sacrificing the overall quality of wrestling in the state to make the team playing field more level just doesn't seem fair to the rest of the wrestlers who want to develop into the best athletes they can be. I realize I'm probably weighing in pretty late on this, but I can't pass up a fun wrestling debate!

Most of the Hendricken kids would still be wrestling in RI so this has little to do with competition

Most of the Hendricken kids would still be wrestling in RI so this has little to do with competition If Hendricken was not allowed to compete in the state tournament, then the wrestlers who were on the team would still compete for Hendricken in whatever league Hendricken was changed to compete in, i.e. a private school league. This would mean they couldn't take part in the RI tournament because Hendricken and other private schools aren't part of it. Unless you're proposing that it would be a good idea to remove sports from all private schools in RI, which I don't think would be fair for anyone involved.

Competing on the mat is fine but Hendricken recruits and we all know it. They make financial concessions and entice wrestlers to go there. Having one program completely dominate your state makes your state look like a joke. Mt. Anthony has 10 state champs this year. Does that make Vermont wrestling look strong?

It's not about what the state "looks" like, it's about the quality of wrestling. Having a school like Mount Anthony gives Vermont wrestling a huge boost, as having a school with a strong wrestling reputation draws in quality wrestlers without necessarily having to do any recruiting. What makes a state look like a joke is when they have state champs and placers who are not quality wrestlers. It's the quality of the wrestling in the state that matters, not how competitive teams are with each other. On top of this, having a collection of great wrestlers at a single school with a culture of winning and excellence makes all the individuals better wrestlers. And, even moreso, having public school wrestlers compete against these schools who are viewed as "evil empires" gives the public school wrestlers a great point of motivation in trying to beat these favored schools/wrestlers. Mount Anthony has 10 state champs this year, and if they are wrestlers who go on to win matches at the New England tournament or go on to wrestle in college then yes, absolutely it makes Vermont wrestling stronger. Imagine if there wasn't a Mount Anthony in Vermont, and they had state champs and placers who could not compete outside of Vermont at all. That would really make the state seem like a joke. The real measure of a state's wrestling quality is how good the athletes that compete at their state tournament are, and whether or not these wrestlers can go on to compete at the college level and beyond. Many of the best wrestlers right now are choosing schools like Mount Anthony or Hendricken because they have other quality wrestlers in the room and a winning tradition. Many other great wrestlers stay in public schools because they feel that is the right fit for them. At the end of the day it is what best for the individual wrestlers that matters, because having better individuals is what makes a state better and what subsequently gets that state more college, international, and olympic wrestlers. College coaches aren't going to recruit a wrestler based upon how well their team did at the state tournament, they want to see them compete at a high level. Right now, a majority of the highest level wrestling in RI is coming from Hendricken. Removing that would be a disservice to the quality of wrestling in our state.

Who cares about Hendricken we all know they recruit they always have one of the best teams in the state and that is going to continue as long as they have a program

BH is one of the best teams in New England. Quit complaining about how your schools can't compete.

How does Hendricken make RI wrestling better? Yes 7 finalists but only two champions. Every single one of those kids would be wrestling for the school of the town they live in, which means, they would still be finalists, and therefore not hurting the state of RI wrestling wise. Your argument makes no sense what so ever. Sorry.

Please change the subject. We are still talking about Bishop Hendricken instead of what a great night of wrestling. It seemed like just about every match was exciting. That's what we should be discussing.
Truth is one of the reasons Hendricken had 7 finalists is there room. Having a tough kid to train with every day is key.

What about 126. Take nothing away from stamas. Great win great wrestler. And I was rooting for him. Anyone surprised there wasn't a stall call. BH kid was really pushing the pace. If the score was 7-1 I think there's a call.
