Andy Melgar should be on there for 106. He beat the Lincoln kid, and lost to Holland in a close 5 to 6 match, by one point. The Holland kid beat the Barrington kid this last weekend in the futures tournament by a bunch of points. Melgar should be at least fourth. I didn't see that he beat Howard. That is a good win. When did this happen?

Josh Wheeler NP should be ranked at 120. Just a hunch but I think Teves is way low here. I know 138 is stacked but Gomez CW is a possible factor. Soto vs Jerez final at 145 would be crazy. I think Teves is where he belongs. What has he done? McGill, Brodeur, Rivet and Zuller all ahead of him sounds about right. McGill is a returning STATE CHAMP. Zuller beat McGill, Broduer is a beast, as well as Rivet who were top state placers last season. Teves took 5th TWO years ago at 106, jumping up 5 weight classes to 138.

Put me down as predicting Teves finishes no worse than 2nd this year.

Results from Cumberland vs Johnston show Soto wrestled at 138 last night.
That would be the most stacked class I can remember if he ends up there

195: 1. Moreira: NP 2. Saqib: Lin 3. Boesch: BH 4. Urena: WW 5. Haskell: EWG 6. Morelli: WV
I believe that Haskell beat Urena in a dual meet head to head by decision.

Teves beat Anthony Parente at 145 lbs. not at 138.

Bump everyone down one spot, and slide Skawinski (Cumb) to the #1 spot. All the competition from last year either graduated or jumped to 220. In my opinion, a very weak weight class this year.

What about 152? Is that a strong weight class with any potential upsets?

James Roderick, cranston east, certified at 106 last week. He was one match away last year from placing last year at 106. He placed 2nd at the Natick tournament this past weekend, losing to the #1 seed, from out of state. He wrestled kid from mt. pleasant last week but the scores not online yet. Does anyone know result from that match?

I recall hearing Bailey was headed back to Westerly but he never showed up in results. Then more recently was told he is at Tabor Academy in Mass.

It is sad to see the decline in the number of wrestlers across the state. Many teams are unable to cover weight classes and although one might think this makes it easier to win a title, I think it * for wrestlers to face forfeit after forfeit or to not be tested until states. Out of state tournaments help but it was o ly a few years ago when weight classes were stacked. Is the decline due to cutting middle school programs or are kids just not interested in putting in the work it takes to be a great wrestler?
