Found an incredible stat today! Was looking over all the results from last years state tournament today and found out that there were an equal amount of places taken. First: 14, Second: 14, Third: 14, Fourth: 14, Fifth: 14, Sixth: 14. What are the odds!

I said the odds that that happens again are extremely low. For all 6 places to get 14 the chances must be low.

OK, I hope you are just joking around and trying to mess with us, if not, here is some simple math. There are 14 weight classes, so you will have 14 place finishers, from 1st to 6th. This happens every year. But, I am sure you had some people thinking...

Here is a question, let's see who can answer it. New York has 15 place finishers, How does that happen???

NY has a 99lb weight class. Weight Classes 99, 106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 145, 152, 160, 170, 182, 195, 220 and 285

New York uses the 99 lb. weightclass in tournaments; I think it's optional but non-scoring in duals. It was used in the Eastern States Championship that I posted in the Brackets section earlier this season. New York also allows 8th graders to participate in the State Tournament at this weight if the school allow it. That's one reason why their lightweights-to-middleweights are so good in college: they've had state tournament level competition since 8th or 9th grade.
