Isaiah is it also ok to tap out when he’s about get pinned in his quarterfinals match just to get a reset. [br Yes if your actually hurtin or in bad position and you feel like need to tap yes, also shouldnt of been a point since he wasnt in criteria or even giving up any back points, there wasnt even any swipes counted to say he was on his back, Sure that’s the way you see it if your coaching on the other side of it. Be honest on both sides of it or all your comments just make you a joke

Brackets out what a cluster 138 and 190 are!! There’s nothing really that bad, 138 honestly the problem is Joyce and tildsley on the same side but 190 isn’t that bad. Fine got pinned and it cost him seeding. Now it’s the New England finals in the quarters. There’s chance for a state finals rematch either way because there is a chance both can make the finals( gansett has a tougher path but could easily make semis) or a meeting in the consis I think the following wrestlers place 106- lemovitz wins 113- bellini 120- could see all 3 but atleast 2 126: Ellis wins, maybe a placement out of robbie 132: Perez finals at least 138: Joyce either 1st or 3rd 144 genuinely think 1 or none place, either McCarthy or vital 150: gabe wins no problem, maybe a Davis 5th-6th place 157: currier top 4 165: reall finals 175: Preston finals vs blanchette, highly anticipated 190: Spencer 1st or 3rd, gianetto can honestly get 2nd, 6th or not place at all(let’s be honest we know Spencer was better but it was just the biggest finals upset possibly ever) 215: could see a diorio placement 285: only think morosetti pulls a placement but thats if he makes the semis where he meets Thomas brown. If brown beat church and had a close match with Adolfo, this won’t be pretty

Can someone please explain this “freebilly” thing going on? Surely it must mean someone got arrested right? This must be a bigger issue than Black Lives Matter

Yes, Billy was “detained” by RIIL for being .1 pound UNDERWEIGHT. It’s not racial. They did not allow him to compete the second day of the Rhode Island tournament.

But he wasn’t going to place and the rule is for his own safety. Sorry pono won by almost 200 lbs instead of over 200. Also why is pono acting like they’re hated for no reason. Is it because they do all this for a Rhode Island state title and there’s no real reward. Like congrats you have team New England

Kid should have been eating more, then. Part of moving up weight classes is ensuring you're eligible to do so, making weight regardless of if you have to lose it or gain it. You reap what you sow.

Is it true that he got on the scale holding a bottle of water, and when he was asked to hand over the water bottle, the scale then read 0.1 lbs under?

This must be a bigger issue than Black Lives Matter This is way bigger than BLM, the people responsible should be put in jail for LIFE, they forced him to weigh in light and WOULDNT allow him to drink or eat before so he was light intentionally. How dare people not allow him to eat before weigh-Ins. Everyone who disagrees with me should be crucified. CHANGE MY MIND

Can someone please explain this “freebilly” thing going on? Surely it must mean someone got arrested right? This must be a bigger issue than Black Lives Matter It’s actually Free Willy. A movie from 1993 about a young boy who vandalizes a theme park, and then is forced to work there to make up for his wrongdoings. There he meets Willy, a young Orca whale who has been separated from his family. Sensing kinship, they form a bond and, with the help of kindly whale trainer Rae Lindley, develop a routine of tricks. However, greedy park owner Dial soon catches wind of the duo and makes plans to profit from them. At the end of the movie they return Willy to the sea where he belongs. Anyone who has watched the movie will tell you that it was the feel good movie of 1993, but also a tear jerker that kept people wanting more. So much so that they made 3 more.

Definately an unfortunate situation for Pono 157, however I dont think the majority of people and coaches "hate Ponogansett. The powerhouse they become is because of school choice. A family decision whether you call it recruiting or not. I do find it somewhat comical all the comments that are being written about the whole thing. The coaches can't decide whether a wrestler is in or out of a tournament due to wt. issues. The decsion had to have been made by RIIL official and Head Ref.
The scales and tourney directors have final say. In this case, how do you not hold the coach somewhat accountable. From what I heard, it wasnt Coach Joyce at the scale as I assume he would have moved his wrestler to next scale for this reason... If a kid is .2 over on one scale, the coach takes him to the other scales to see if hes on and most of the time they are. Same should be applied with underweight, coach should have walked his wrestler to other scales to see if he was .1 over..One post I saw was about how RI gives plus 3 on second day when the rule book says no more than 2..Fair point, but how many kids needed the 3rd pound not just from Pono but all other teams?
Another post was about who writes and enters the weights, well many coaches I assume would at least write down there teams wts or at least take a picture of the official weigh in sheet in the event there questions like this case. Very unfortunate situation for this good wrestler and good kid but more focus should be on this weekend s event and some of the great matchups we are about to witness and to see Rhode Island dominate the podium once again.
Needless to say, Ponogansett should dominate New Englands regardless of what town there kids are from, most are from RI anyway...Good Luck to all RI kids Friday and Saturday

There are a lot of cry baby parents and kids claiming “they hate us…they’re all jealous…” I seem to remember a post on here calling Coach Joyce a genius because he found a spot at 157 for this wrestler. Well he did, but then what happened at states? Isn’t it also true that three wrestlers (who clearly nobody cares about) got kicked from sectionals because of the same reason - being under weight? Why didn’t the genius coach have him check his weight prior to the team weighing in? Drink a water bottle? I mean come on. So many ways this could have been prevented but yet it’s the coaches of other teams that are at fault??? It was their own fault and the RIIL made the decision. From what I saw he’s lucky to even be there on the second day. In his quarters match he appeared to have gotten his bell rung. Didn’t look like pono wanted him checked for a concussion because he came back to the match pretty quickly. Problem is, he didn’t look the same afterwards. Sloppy, off, not himself. Concussed? Probably. But we’re all ok with the coaching staff allowing it to slide I guess. Everybody has to follow the same rules.

The boy definitely showed how tough he is, but also showed why we don't get to bump up more that one weight class for safety.

It is clear from the above posts that the Ponaganset kids, parents and coaches were was way off base, no one hates them!! lol! But I heard one of Coach Joyce's Sons Passed away yesterday, probably a good idea to lay off the Pono hate for a while, plus the state championships are over there isn't much more to argue about!! See you next year!

Please explain to me why this needs to be fact checked? Better yet, why is anything other than measurable evidence of statistics as it relates to wrestling allowed on this forum? Both the personal and group attacks that are made directly as well as in passive aggressive nature is absolutely unnecessary and pathetic. Why any individual was allowed to post the news (whether it to be fact or not) of an individual who may have passed away on a wrestling site is questionable, at best! If anyone wants facts on personal issues such as personal health, traveling decisions, absence from a meet, find a way to contact them directly ! I am quite positive if there was sincere concern, one wouldn’t wait on a blog for an answer!

I think it was because we all know the Joyce’s being Michael Jacob and Joe all within 5 years but I guess one was an adopted son so I think he believed it was one of the three known ones. Still absolutely sad
