At 52 Brown from Toll Gate beat Anderson from Chariho and Majored Brown from NK. Deasley from TG lost a close desicion to soares from Pilgrim who just pinned Nappi at 126. All three of these should add to the mix at 52 and 26. I already had Brown over Anderson from Chariho factored in I think I just mixed up Brown TG with Brown NK thank you for letting me know. As for 126 close losses do not have an effect on rankings.

Hendricken results on Projo say Nick Martino won at HW?
Is that right?

Does anyone know what's going on? BH dropped a bomb last night & Martino wrestled HW. He's definitely the #1 contender there now. Nappi wrestled 126 & was pinned by Soares Pil. Was it a lucky stick or is this Soares kid a sleeper? Nappi will have a tough decision to make tonight weather he wrestles 120 or 126 against 2 top contenders from Cov. My guess, he'll stay @ 126 for states. Regardless of where he wrestles he should be moved down in rankings as he hasn't wrestled any competition in either 120 or 126 to have him ranked high. I'd say 6th @ 120, 4th @ 126 if you're going on stats. Fry 106 & Fenwick 220 Both back wrestling w/ Cov last night & got wins. Clarke decisioned Wheeler 120. Rizzo 132 did not wrestle. Passante 113 Cumb wrestled 120. Pon had a forfeit @ 113 & I'm assuming that's why Passante went 120, but where's Porcaro? He was not in the lineup last night against Pon. McGill 152 majored Tougas Frenette 160 Pon decisioned Sangare Peckham 170 decisioned Hayes Macomber Pon not in the lineup Ideas on what weight Bloom & Teves will be going? Rumored Bloom possibly going 132. I'd like to see him go 138 facing Rivet in the finals. My opinion that won't happen seeing it's a deep weight class & Rivet is on a whole other level. Brown is dominating 132 & my favorite @ states. Bloom's for sure victory @ states would be 126. Will he drop a weight class from last year as a senior to take an easier route or will he wrestle the best to try & be the best? I guess only time will tell. (Please don't take this out of context because I'm making an assumption. Bloom is a great wrestler & nice kid who will go places & has proven himself in past years, but a guaranteed state title @ 132, 138 & 145 isn't likely) Any word on Hussey returning? It was 8-4 Nappi when he got reversed to his back and stuck. The 4 for Soares was off two reversals.

Bloom doesn't strike me as the type of kid who would look for an easy path. I think he enjoys a challenge and I wouldn't be surprised to see him go 138 or 145 to meet a fellow state champ.

Any results from Hendricken vs Coventry? Nappi Vs Clarke? I heard Clark over Nappi 3-1 at 120 lbs. Nappi was losing to Deasley (Toll Gate) 4-1 at 126 lbs before Nappi injury defaulted. Not sure about the Johnston match...

Also Nappi was pinned by Soares (Pilgrim) at 126 lbs. There is a deep list of tough wrestlers at 120 and 126 this year.

I was was looking at the 120 ranking and noticed that Soares (Pilgrim) has also beaten Faria (Cumberland) in a duel meet.

These rankings are a joke. Everybody knows that rankings, especially on this forum are useless. These kids will decide their fate on the mat in states and New England's. I truly hope none of these young wrestlers read this crap and believe it. And the other thing, who gives a crap who sits out (due to injury or illness or whatever) and who ducks who. If you wanna win states and new england's (or whatever your goal is in these tournaments) then you have to beat the best. I saw someone say its unfair to mess up a kids "ride to the finals" because someone sat out the season and wrestled in states! Are you kidding me? Enough of this participation trophy crap. Only in this state does this happen. If a kid wants to get the to finals or place then he should earn it no matter who shows up to wrestle. Plain and simple. I know I never wanted to get an easy ride, but hey that was then and this is now. I have to say..... all this ranking talk is pretty entertaining This happens everywhere. Rankings , seedings, and results can be entirely different.

With the Smithfield tournament happening this Saturday, we should be able to see a preview of the 182 state finals as both Chariho and Lincoln will both be there
Chariho should be able to display their toughness as merritt, Anderson and dougherty should also win their weight class too. Anderson and Dougherty should both be challenged with some tough contenders at their weight classes from hope, toll gate and Smithfield wrestlers.
Anybody else have thoughts ?

There was the Connecticut Challenge this weekend. Floarena has Cumberland taking second place to New Milford with 189 puts. Ponaganset took sixth with 112. It looks like Baptista won first at 132 and Hayes first at 170. Rhode Island was well represented in the place finishing with Cumberland's Pacenante, Pocaro, Faria, Baptista, Tougas, M. Sangare, Hayes, K. Sangare, Reynolds, and Wilcox all placing. Ponaganset had one first with Riggs and Andrews, Lynch, and McGill all placed.

1) Martino BH
2) Brown NK
3) Wilcox Cumb
4) Brayall Linc
5) Kenney John
6) Martin NP
Changes:
Martino replaces Cole at 285 for BH, returning New England placer puts him at #1.
Clarke over Nappi at 120 puts Clarke at 2nd. Nappi with loses to Clarke, Soares, and TG 120 move him down to 5th. Wouldn’t count Nappi out yet he was winning before he got stuck by Soares, injury defaulted against TG, and only lost to Clarke 3-1. Definitely still a contender but for the time being he’ll be at 5th. Would be interesting to see the result of Nappi vs Castaldi if Pilgrim hasn’t wrestled BH yet.
126 Soares win over Nappi and Faria puts him at 5th. Ryan win over Faria puts him at 6th.
160 Burgess over Metcalf puts him at 6th.
Delbonis over Thibedea puts him at 1st for 195. Delbonis now has wins over #2 and 3. Clearly the man to beat at 195.
Correction the Brown @ 152 is from TG not NK (There is an NK Brown at 152 but he is not ranked, he lost to Brown TG).
Sangare over Gincastro puts him 3rd @ 195.
Bailey over Thib would have put him at 2nd at 195 but Bailey was beaten by Sangare who lost to Thib. Bailey will move to 4th for now should be fun to watch at states.
Lopez at 195 quietly having a good year in D2 good for 6th at 195. From what I have seen hasn’t wrestled anyone ranked above him so it will be interested to see what he can do against the D1 195’s at states.
Frenette was at 170 for Pono instead of Macomber last match not sure what happened there. Will leave Macomber in at 170 for now but definitely something to watch.
Watts over Williams @ 113 puts him @ 2nd, Merritt with the MAJOR over Watts puts him at #1. Lots of questions before the reason about whether or not Merritt should be ranked so high I think he was definitely proven himself at this point.
220 Reynolds over circa and Taft.
220 Circa over Taft.
220 Salas over Cayo.
Thoughts:
113, 120, 145, and 195 all very interesting. Can’t wait to see these weights at states.
113 very volatile at the top with Passante over Watts, then Watts over Williams and Merritt majoring Watts.
120 is the deepest weight by far. That weight is a meat grinder for sure.
145 Disano, Bloom, and Lynch is a stacked top 3. Still not sure where Bloom goes if he goes 145 that will be fun to watch. Also don’t forget about Holdredge who has an impressive record this year with only in state loss being to Disano. Should be wrestling Lynch next week in a dual.
195 Delbonis has established himself as the #1 with wins over #2,3, and 5. Should be interesting after that as 2-5 is a cluser**** and Lopez who is an unknown at 6 (hasn't wrestled the 1-5) could also be in the mix.
