I was really hoping this would of been worked out, the bottom line here is we live in a free country so everyone has the right to go where they want, weather you agree or do not agree with what has happened I do hope everyone agrees the kids should come first, I will be at the NH new England's and any wrestler who dose not have a coach there and needs help just look for me, I will be more then happy to help anyone form any club who needs it, i am also helping with seeding the Rhodie island wrestlers hopefully this can be done fairly and no one gets upset if they do not agree with the way it goes, it really is too bad that this couldn't be worked out, i hope everyone has a great tournament where ever they go

Now that RI states are over, we need to get up to Nashua. By staying home, we let the adults win their powerplay but the kids lose. Take a look at the registration numbers in Nashua - the best kids are going to be in NH!!!

Last day to register for NH. Let's not miss this great opportunity to wrestle against New England's best!! We've got some studs in RI - they should be standing atop the podium in Nashua, not heading to Coventry for an intra-squad scrimmage!! Let's go RI!!!

FYI...Registration Numbers by State for NH MA- 272 NH- 153 VT- 67 ME- 82 CT- 41 RI- 11 Total: 626 Kids
so the total percentage is: MA- 43% NH- 24% VT- 11% ME- 13% CT- 7% RI- 2%
From attending the past tournaments in Lowell i can tell you that the Very Large majority of Placewinners and champions are from CT. Those are the same wrestlers that will be heading to Coventry this weekend
Whoever is going enjoy your time in Nashua at the NH, VT, ME vs MA dual meet. I'm curiouse to see what state the majority of champions are from? I do have hope that in one of the 12 man weight class that has the 1 kid from VT against the 11 from MA. (I did not know they wrestled back to 11th place? or MA was allowed that many entries the day before reg. closed?) will pull through and win.
I will say i am very happy that all the RI coaches stood together and were on the same page. CT also did a great job of banding together. They also decided to change some items (such as full mats and 15 pt tech) that will really improve the tournament.
For those of you that had to suffer thought the arrogance of the MA individuals at the Lowell tournaments -where the refs would say "oh kid your from RI, you can wrestle without a coach, you wont be out their that long" (Actually happened twice- Directly from mouth of their "head ref") -where their solution to appease the requests from RI and CT to have refs from other states were "we have 1 MA ref that sometimes refs in RI" -where a coach from a USA Club would stand there and see them charging $$$ for a photograph application for a USA card and shake his head. (unbelievable-they really did that)(FYI..each card has a membership number- that gets teared off, 1 gets sent in, 1 gets kept by the wrestler)---who has number 34509...i do, i do, i do
If you enjoy that then all the power to you, granted RI coaches squabble but i think they all agree they had enough of MA running the show.
Good luck wherever you go, just wrestle hard and make RI Proud!

FYI. NH is even letting wrestlers from CT register that didn't place in States. In fact, I see names that didn't even qualify in the CT State qualifier.

How can you guys make fun of an intra squad at the NH tournament? The NH tournament will at least have members of all 6 New England states competing on Sunday. How many different states will be represented at the USA New Englands at the middle school level ? 3 or 4 out of 6? (Not counting the intermediate or novice groups, since wrestlers in those divisions, who aren't from CT or RI will have most likely wrestled in NH on Sat).

Can we get a breakdown of registered wrestlers by state for Coventry - or will the union not allow that? I think we need new "leadership" here in RI - we're (our kids) not being well served!

On the NH registration site it seems that the majority of our MS youth state champs will be heading there. Almost 3/4 of the champions appear to be heading north from the MS youth RI states. So even though it's only 11 kids it's some of our best, getting a much deeper level of talent to compete against. If I had a child wrestling in this age group I'd be headed to NH regardless of the politics, it's about getting the best possible competition. Most of our kids wrestle the same 3-6 kids every week doing a small NEs with just 1 other state partially involved means my child would wrestle the same old competition. What is the fun or compete level in that?
Good luck to all where ever you may end up this weekend. If heading to NH prove RI proud. If staying home good luck and beat CT in the meet.

It does look to me that many of the wrestlers that registered from CT for the NH tournament did not place at their state tournament and would not be able to wrestle in the New Englands held in Rhode Island because it is the offical USA sanctioned New Englands and you would need to place is your state tournament in order to take part. Not to take anything away from these wrestles because this does allow them more mat time which would make them better.

The level of competition will be relatively the same at both Nashua and Coventry. But the DEPTH is in Nashua. This is middle school wrestling so it's all about getting as much time on the mat in competitive situations. The brackets in Coventry will be small there is know arguing that and half of the bracket you may have faced 10 times already this season.
If you're looking for two matches to a "New England" Championship, Coventry is the place for you. If you're looking for more matches against Smitty's, Doughboy, KT, and NE Elite kids you'll be in Nashua.

Solution: We're not playing with them no more waaaahhhh!!! Being slighted by the Mass folks should provide extra motivation to beat them but instead RI kids run. Great lesson for the kids Andrew. If the deck is stacked against you kids and all the odds say you just can't win then find another tournament to attend. It is high time for new leadership in RI.

At first when I heard about 2 New Englands I was in favor of going where the competition was going. That isn't so clear from what I am looking at now. Its RI for us simply for logistics and secondly for economy, why use 60.00 worth of fuel, 120.00 on a room, plus the extras, when no matter where you go a first place is going to be disputed. Looks like we will have to have a wrestle off of all the first place winners to settle it once and for all. I know we will be looking to wrestle the first place winner in our weight bracket at the very first opportunity we have. A first place in Rhode Island will give you a sanctiond USA New England Title and no where else will do that. Say what you may but those are the facts people. If you want the USA 2011/2012 New England Title best come to RI to get it.

everyone has their side and what they believe, the sad thing here is what was best for the kids should of been taken care of, there never should of been 2 ne tournaments, this should of been worked out by adults like adults, there is no winner here only the kids loose, dose it really matter if it's usa or not , no not really, new england is new england, all the states and all the wrestlers should be at 1 tournament, boycott proves nothing other then adults could not work it out and no one was willing to give and take for the kids, take a good look at what has been done is this really right, some are in ri some are in nh and now there is no true new england, who won here, if you do not like the mass people so what, it's about the kids, , fix this for next year,
