What's the deal with 2 youth new england's??? It's supposed to be about the kids wrestling and not adults complaining about their ego's getting hurt. So you prove your point and now our kids in RI and CT get to only wrestle kids from 2 states instead of the rest of New England? The board members should atleast mirror the rest of new england's new weight divisions in the state competition, instead of USA weights, so those kids from RI and CT who want to go on by themselves and wrestle kids from all of new england can do so!

I agree. New Englands won't be a legit New Englands with out all 6 states giving the kids the opportunity, and computation they want and deserve....

having seen wrestlers go thru a boycott once before I can tell you noone wins , the wrestlers are the ones who lose the most, boycotting dose nothing but hurt the wrestlers, this mess should be taken care of, I find it hard to believe that adults can not find a way to fix this, everyone needs to put aside their own reasons wether they think they are right or not, I have heard all sides ,and everyone has their own points, when it comes down to it, if these adults sit down and really think this can be worked out, nothing I have heard from all sides are things that are not fixable, think of the kids and fix this, the kids are what this is all about, and this can be fixed, someone will have to step up and say ok, we will give in some and you give in some, really fix this for the kids

Our takedown tournament started a hour and half late yesterday. 90 minutes and there wasnt many kids there. Every year our state championship tourney takes forever because of some screw up, no wander the new england committee doesn't trust the ri board to run a quality ne tourney

Boycotting doesn't help the wrestlers at all. Just give the adults a chance to puff their chests. Definitely not the right answer. This second New England tournament in RI should never have come about.

Just for those that may not know...this year is Rhode Islands year to host New Englands and someone decided to change it the end of last season. When you are given a year to host this tournament it is a BIG deal. It brings in much needed funds for RI Wrestling. These funds are needed for us to improve. Such as the new computers!
Also, The reason the Take Down Tournament started late was because it was the first tournament with our new computer systems which help us go paperless! The CLCF Tournament ran much better and it will only get better as we have more and more people trained on the computers.

But after the new england board made the decision to hold the tournament in NH this year, we expect our board members to put on their big boy pants and do what's best for the kids. Prove we can run a smooth paperless tournament during the year and our state championships and then petition to host the new englands next year. Thats the adult way to handle it, not to boycott and "take your ball and go home" like a spoiled kid. How is that going to help our chances if getting the tournament in future years? Time to grow up

If we can't compete against all the states in one Newengland tournament we are not intrested because its not a Newengland championship. I guess Boycot was the wrong word, We compete against everyone or not at all. I will spend the time and money to go somwhere on a national level where things are done correctly.

Oh I forgot to say I really don't care where it is held, makes absolutly no difference to me where they lay the mats down.

have not heard any more on the 2 new England's, Is Rhodie island going to fix this and make it right for the wrestlers, if this is not fixed Rhodie island will be forcing parents and coach's to decide where they are going, this is not right, I do know the new England's in NH will allow any Rhodie island and ct wrestler in, and there will be wrestlers from these 2 states that will go, this should not be happening, do not force this issue find some way to come to terms and except it is going to be in NH this year and hopefully RI will get it in the future, the time for these tournaments are not all that far away do not wait until the last week and then try to do something,

Usually the New Englands are for Novice and older. The flyer for the New Englands in Coventry says that Intermediates are now wrestling. Is that a mis-print?

No this is not a mis print. Intermediate division has been added to the USA New Englands.

We don't even have the numbers to fill all of our spots in our state championships this year. Attendance is down, computer bugs aren't worked out yet and our refs have a long way to go and not enough time. This will be bad.

So my understanding is that Top 4 wrestlers from wach weight class from each state qualify for New Englands. So you would think that ME, NH, Some of Ct and Some of Ma will go to the New Englands in NH.......RI will have extremely low numbers. It will basically be another State Tourney with the exception of a few.

Don't the majority of the top 4 place holders in MA states come from northern MA? So the chances of getting kids that close to NH to drive down to RI aren't likely

it really is a shame that this is going to happen, it is wrong to have wrestlers have to choose which tournament they are going to, I have talked to many wrestlers from rhode island and ct and most of the better wrestlers are going to nh, they feel thats where the tougher comp is going to be and most of the wrestlers from all the states, i have not found any wrestler from nh vt or maine planning on coming to ri , once again this whole thing should of been fixed, kids should never of been put in this , boycotts never solve anything they only hurt the wrestlers.
