Last year only 8 wrestlers placed top 6 the best of which being Dutcher of Woonsocket and Wuesterfield of Barrington both with a 4th place finish. This year D2 had 13 with 5 wrestlers qualifying for NE. Outstanding turnaround
2019 Dutcher-4th Etheridge-6th Pacheco-6th Salazar-6th Wuesterfield-4th Gosselin-5th Thatcher-6th Clark-5th

I don’t know about Lasalle just yet, but definitely move pilgrim and East providence down to d2. Definitely move Woonsocket and maybe Barrington/burrivle up

Crazy first day of New England’s, Leete was a man on a mission and avenged his loss to Fallon from New England finals last year, winning 7-2. Grifka lost to McLaughlin (6th in NE last year), I saw the lsa 82 that grifka beat last year beat McLaughlin on several occasions. McLaughlins looked good from top, tough loss for grifka. A lot of good wrestling, a lot of dark horses from RI could make the podium.

The only time I know of is last year in the New Englands he injury defaulted to him in the consis. Which by the way he Mclaughlin beat him 7-0 in the championship round.

Thoughts on RIs performance over the weekend? First congrats to Clarke on becoming a NE champ!! Second congrats to all RI placers. I felt RI overall underperformed a bit but this is a tough tourney with great competition. Placers as follows with my quick breakdown. 106- n/a 113- n/a Gillis was a good chance to place but didn’t. 120- Fry 4th. Tough lose in semis but surprised he didn’t win his 3/4 match. He also didn’t display himself well after his semi loss pushing an opposing coach away and then not showing for the podium. 126- Joyce with the better draw than Fallon and took advantage making the finals. Fallon lost to Leete who was on a mission. Good job by Fallon battling back to take 3rd. 132- Congrats to Clarke on winning it all. He looked great all tourney. 138-n/a 145- Thought Merritt had a great shot to win it but took 4th. Maybe should have placed higher but what a good kid with great sportsmanship. 152- Faria wrestled well taking 2nd. Sung was just better in the finals. Great tourney for Faria though 160- Fine made his run to the finals look easy and thought he was going to win it. Cassella pined him in the finals but nothing to hang your head about here. 170- Dougherty took 4th and had a good tourney. 182- Grifka took 3rd and had a tough 4-3 loss in the quarters. Cruises to 3rd after that loss. Went 5-1 and faced 4 kids who were on the podium. Felt he was the favorite though. 195-n/a 220- n/a 285- I missed how Betencor finished. Overall I feel RI could have had more champs this weekend but that’s how it goes.

As stated McLaughlin dominated Gregorian last year in NE’s and don’t see anything on Flo that shows him beating McLaughlin. Not that it matters but is there proof of these wins? Grifka completely dominated Gregorian last year twice.

Fry is an incredible wrestler, one of the best in Rhode Island the past few years, but he is very cocky and arrogant. Look at him throughout the adrian match always clapping in his face after taking him down each time. That’s why you never celebrate too early

I agree. He’s incredible and some people are just built to feed off of being cocky so I’m somewhat ok with that but after the match is over you certainly can’t pull What he did by deflecting the opponents coaches hand away then not show for the podium. If he can clean up his sportsmanship it will help him going through life.
