Sorry this took a while, been busy lately and wanted to do a throughout job. As always if I missed anything please let me know. 2/1/2018 Power Rankings (with full explanations):Fallon out at 113, Holland up to #1. McGovern moves down to 120 from 126. He Beat Rizzo earlier in the year so he slots in at #5 for now, will be interesting to see how he does against the rest of 120, could potentially see him moving up the rankings before the end of the season. Watts has been back and forth between 126 and 132. He’s been seeking out the toughest competition he can get each dual meet which is respectable and I think more wrestlers should start doing this. Keeping him at 132 where he has a higher ranking than he would be at if he were ranked at 126. 145 is probably the toughest class I have ranked so far this season. Young was the #2 in the previous ranking and he lost to Lyons from SK 6-4. However, the same week this happened Lyons lost to the #6, Reid, in double overtime. Making it tougher both Lyons and Young have not wrestled much at all this season, with both of them apparently getting late starts. Young recently pinned the #3 Kadaar who has beaten #4 Soares and #5 Bonanno so it would be questionable at best to drop Young (a two time state finalist) any lower than #2 in the rankings. At the same time, I have trouble moving Lyons all the way up to #2 in the rankings even though he beat the #2 Young, with him having lost to the #6 and not wrestling the beginning of the season. Furthermore, Lyons did not place at states last year. Young beat Kadar, Kadar beat Reid (6-3), Lyons beat Young, and Reid beat Lyons. Since Lyons beat Young, and Reid beat Lyons, they are both going to move ahead of Soares and Bonanno who neither has wrestled yet. However, Reid is not able to move ahead of Kadar because he lost to Kadar and Lyons is not able to move ahead of Reid because Lyons lost to Reid, even though he did beat Young. For now Young will get the benefit of the doubt and remain the #2. Andrews in for Pono at 138 he hasn’t wrestled much this season so not much to go off of but I think most people would agree he should slot in at #3 or #4 and I’ll give former state champ Nappi the benefit of the doubt. Lynch up to 145 he’s the clear #1. Lynch up to 160 putting Lynch at #2 behind Rivet and I can’t wait to see that finals match. This is a great team move for Pono, who adds a potential high state placer in Andrews while still being able to see Lynch and McGill most likely be in the state finals. This could put them over the top. Not to mention that Villanova, previously #5 at 152 moved up to 160 and took out the #1. Pono the favorites for the team title now in my opinion. Caltigirone over Disano at 138. Calitgirone place higher at NE’s last year, and also beat Lynch who beat Disano in last years state finals. Again this is not me predicting who will win it’s a systematic ranking based on who beat who, it is only right to have Caltigirone at #1. Big shift in 160. Holdrege and Villanova both Bumping up. Holdredge lost to #1 Dougherty 3-0 and Villanova beat #1 Dougherty 3-0. Burgess also beat Dougherty 3-1. Villanova will be the new #1 at 160, Burgess the #2, Dougherty the #3, and Holdredge the #4. 160 is probably most deep and evenly matched weight class. I could see anyone on the list including honorable mention Grifka making an appearance in the finals. A few other small changes. Feel free to ask if any clarification is needed. Team: 1) Pono 2) Cov 3) Char 4) BH 5) SK 106: 1) Fry Cov 2) Gomes MH 3) Felix Tol 4) Gillis Cumb 5) Lynch Linc 6) LaValle John HM: Lewis 113: 1) Holland Pil 2) Reilly Cumb 3) Joyce Pon 4) Remalina Cov 5) Stevenson CW 6) Iacoobucci BH 120: 1) Willaims BH 2) Gomez CW 3) Passante Cumb 4) Dutcher Woon 5) McGovern LSA 6) Rizzo NP 126: 1) Clarke Cov 2) Merritt Char 3) Fine BH 4) Leonard Barr 5) Perry SK 6) Faria Cumb 132: 1) Brown Cov 2) Watts Pil 3) McDowell Woon 3) Lombardo Smith 4) Hamilton WW 5) Maroney BH 6) Deasley Tol 138: 1) Caltagirone Cov 2) Disano BH 3) Nappi MH 4) Andrews Pon 5) Vanheginan Pil 6) Castillo Woon 145: 1) Lynch Pon 2) Young Cov 3) Kadar West 4) Reid BH 5) Lyons SK 6) Soares Pil HM: Bonanno Char 152: 1) Rivet BH 2) McGill Pon 3) Myers Narr 4) Gosselin Burr 5) Testa John 160: 1) Villanova Pon 2) Burgess John 3) Dougherty Char 4) Holdredge West 5) Metcalf Cov 6) Brown NK HM: Grifka MH 170: 1) Harrison LSA 2) Ladas SK 3) Frenette Pon 4) Gonzalez Woon 5) Anderson Char 182: 1) Wrzsien Char 2) Macomber Pon 3) Bradley CW 4) Sepulveda Pil 5) Saqib Linc 6) Monteiro John 195: 1) Riggs Pon 2) Sangare Cumb 3) Holmander SK 4) Grigorian LSA 5) Duscha Char 220: 1) Hancock Cumb 2) Shaw Char 3) Marshall SK 4) Crocker NK 5) Jocimat NP 6) Hanson LSA 285 1) Delbonis LSA 2) Amaral EP 3) Hauron CW 4) Guarcas Hope 5) Rimoshytus Barr 6) Crocker NK

I don’t think I’ve missed anything lately, so I’m wondering why Frenette and Macomber flip flopped?

Funkroll, I am definitely NOT a rankings expert, so this is just as much a question as an answer. It IS a tricky situation at 145 huh? It was a little difficult to follow, but the one thing I thought I might point out that might be helpful is in regards to moving Lyons up even though he has a loss to Reid, and Reid has a loss to Kadaar. It seems like the stumbling block for you is Reid's loss to Kadaar. Unless it is an absolute rule that someone cannot be ranked above someone they have a head to head loss against (which it cant be, otherwise there would be a paradox right?) then maybe its worth considering WHEN Reid's loss to Kadaar happened? If that loss was early in the season, I think it would be conceivable to move Lyons and Reid up, no? I mean in NCAA if the #20 beats the #1, the #1 is not all of a sudden unranked, and the #20 is not all of a sudden the #1. And in fact couldn't the #20 in light of his most recent win over the #1 be moved up to say #8 and then be ranked above someone he may have previously been beaten by earlier in the season?

Valid question, honestly 145 could have went a lot of different ways. The reason I kept Kadar higher than Reid in the rankings is because While Lyons has beaten the #2, that is the only person that Lyons has beat, in addition to him losing to the #6 (who Kadar has beat). In the meantime, Kadar has beat multiple people in the top 6 (at least three I believe), so with the rankings up in the air so to speak and with Kadar beating someone that has beat the kid that should arguably be ranked ahead of him as well as consistently beating other ranked kids throughout the year I felt that it was right to keep Kadar ahead of Lyons until Lyons proves that beating Young was more than a fluke. Lyons was moved up a few spots as a result of beating Young, just not all the way up. Not sure if SK and Westerly have wrestled yet but if they haven't Lyons vs Kadar match would give us a lot of clarity.

How is Joyce below holland and reilly? He beat them both. Sorry I missed Cumb v Pono result. The scores for Pono v Pilgrim were not posted on RIIL as far as I could see which is why I didn't factor that one in but i'll take your word for it and fix that ranking. Thanks for pointing out. Also it has been pointed out that I missed Dunston from Hope over Lombardo AND Hamilton at 132. That ranking has been fixed accordingly.

Calm down Bonanno fans, Funk, Bonanno and Kadar did split with Bonanno winning the dual, Bonanno beat Reid I believe 4-3 and is a returning place finisher. I see no results for Chariho/SK but Lyons has a few matches at 138. 132 - have we forgotten Hellman EP? Also is Nappi going 138 now he was at 132 but maybe bumping for a better shot. 138- looks like Soares has bumped down
Classes are tough to follow as trackwrestling is subpar

Missed that because the match was originally scheduled for 1/4, but got rescheduled for later in the season. Under Trackwrestling the result is listed under 1/4 so I had assumed I had already looked at it. Definitely one of the bigger drawbacks of this new Track system. Soares at 138 fixed. EP has done a ton of out of state wrestling but I could only find a handful of in state results. Any results to help me justify putting him at a certain spot at 132?

What about the Hope kid at 160? Also Woonsocket 170 beat Anderson 11-0!! Also at 170 Frenette was majoring Ladas 10-0 then pinned him why is he ranked ahead!! How about Freshman Dougherty Beating Gosselin!!!!

220 Is Wide Open
Hancock Cumberland Cirka Ponaganset Jolcimat NP Marshall SK Eckert Pilgrim Seck Woonsocket Shaw Chariho

Reynolds looked tough and should be ranked 3-4 but young and whoever pono has go out for 145 would take him all day. Honest opinion
