Very surprised by no mentioning of the Smithfield tournament! Some great wrestling there on saturday, some great finals matches! Merrit, mcdowell, and zueller looked strong. Balon didnt look good at all against the number 1 chariho wrestler. Overall chariho and pilgrim looked really well overall, and were highly compettitive in the tournament. States should be fun!

Probaly because of that historical patriots win last night, everyone is still in awww
I really do miss the Vets tournament. Its was a great tournament in January where about 8 division 1 and 8 division 2 teams would compete.
However from what I heard, the smithfield tournament was very interesting
126 Freshman Frederick Santos made a name for himself, hanging with McDowell only to lose 6-3, in contrast McDowell majored Soares 11-1. Santos also beat Ryan from Chariho, whose ranked 6th, 7-0 in the 3rd/4th round. Ryan's first loss of the day, came to Gordillo from West Warwick.
145 Sophomore Nick Gosselin looked good, losing a close semi finals match to Dougherty from Chariho. Gosselin was up by 2, got taken down within the last 10 seconds of the third period, then lost in overtime.
152 Anderson, Chariho beat Brown, Tollgate in the finals
182 Tommy from Chariho beat Balon, Lincoln in the finals. A preview of what probably is the state finals, Tommy dominated the match
195 Lopez, Hope beat Armiault, Tollgate in the semis
220 Cayo,Tolman beat Salas, Hope in the finals 220 is always a great weight class to watch at states, as almost every quarterfinal match can be a coin flip
Can anyone name a weight class where a Divison 1 wrestler will not win a state title? With Ponaganset and Pilgrim moving up to Divison 1 and Divison 2 having no returning state champs, its starting to look like Division 1 will sweep all the State Titles.

Will Lincoln be facing Chariho at the Narragansett duals? A potential rematch at 182 before states. Brown Vs Anderson will be a good match once again before states, considering that they've both beaten each other this season. Any other matchups occurring there between chariho and ponogansett?

Moses Brown D2 has Bloom & Teves that could win their weight class as well as Jarrell EG. I do think 11 out of the 14 weights will have D1 state champs.

Jarrell wasn't at Smithfield tournament and told he has an injury from swimming. Tieves and bloom only have one dual meet left to weigh in. Does anyone even know what their weight on fat test is?

How is it that an athlete is on a wrestling team while participating on another high school sport in the same season? Doesn't RIIL prohibit this?

How is it that an athlete is on a wrestling team while participating on another high school sport in the same season? Doesn't RIIL prohibit this? The AD needs to sign off on it and there needs to be a designated primary sport and secondary sport. It's completely legal and In fact a lot of football teams in this state are borrowing soccer players to kick/punt during games.
