Okay guys here are my new rankings. Remember I think that switchit's rankings should trump mine. Please let me know of any results that I have missed. Not all results are on RIIL, projo, or sites like track wrestling. Rankings have been very hard because in alot of causes wrestlers have wrestled twice with split results, or A beat B and B beat C and C beat A. Plus some weight classes (126, 132, 138, 145, 220) are a mess because they have been many scenerios like A>B>C>A 106: 1. Cardosa - MH 2. Teves - MB 3. Celico - BH 4. Hussey - EP 5. Wiliams - LSA 6. With the exception of Neff, 220 is completely open for 2-6 imo...anyone can be in any of those 5 spots. Pretty cool if you ask me.

And Dimauro beat noury last year . So I guess this means that anyone of these top 4-5 wrestlers could come out on top any given night. Should be a great weight class to watch. I wouldn't get to hung up in someones rankings. Would love to see forum pick up some new activity always seems to be same people No matter what coments are made on this forum there will always be someone to critique but that's what make this site exciting.

3 out of the top 4 kids at 145 are in D2 so that should make for a great Sectionals tournament to watch.

i have a question if Altier only wrestles a couple of matches will he get special circumstances for the 2 seed

Altieri should still be 1 seed going in 3state titles 3 new england places and never lost ti anyone at any weight he wrestled in ri should count for something if not system is really screwed up if wasnt injured would be 1 seed. If not 1 seed pool him in and let him take someone out early in rounds to mess with team points for states

That is a good point. If Altieri gets a lower placement, you may not see the finals that you expect. If Johnny met the 1 to 4 seeds in the early rounds, that could knock them out of the New Englands...

im only asking the question because Altier's match with Boudette goes as a loss head to head this year. and now you have Davol also a returning state champ and Altier did not face him this year.

so my question was how would you seed a three time champ. he has beatin both Boudette and Davol is his injury goin to mess with seeding

Favoritism or exception to rules is a slippery slope… I do not think someone (regardless of past performance) should get special privileges based on last year or the year before. Please know I am not taking away the fact he is a great wrestler and will undoubtable continue to do good things in the sport and chances are he wins again this year. There are rules in place… and if I’m not mistaken the power point system takes into account the wrestler’s past performance and they get points for being a returning state place winner and additional points if they are a returning New England place winner. Frankly, he, like all wrestlers, should be seated based on current performance and the current power point system the state is using. Bottom line: the system (while arguably may not the best) is the system we are using and we should not grant any special treatment or exceptions.

A wrestler can qualify for the "special circumstance" rule, which allows a wrestler to be put up for the 1 or 2 seed due to an injury, while not having enough power points. A 3 coach panel not involved will vote whether or not the wrestler is eligible for the rule, based on certain criteria. Our job as coaches is to do whats best for our wrestler with integrity, and when something unfortunate comes along like Altiere, you hope to do the best thing within the rules. If Altieri is eligible for the rule, I'd guess he'd be a 2 seed, since his loss to Beaudette wouldn't warrant a 1 even though injured. Only time will tell

As long as Altieri is seeded in top 3 it should not matter. He will have to face Davol in Beadette in the semis and finals. It would mess things up if he faces one of them before then

That was well put by all who responded regarding Altieri who is a great wrestler and no matter where he is seeded,I personally do not think it will affect the true champs outcome, that is unless his injury comes into play!!!!!!!!!! Good luck to all and would love no more than to see a 4 time State Champ..Good luck john..

Coventry beat SK last night by 1 point but SK had many of their JV in due to injuries. Conley (170) is wrestling up because Harrington (190) is out with injury. That should change the rankings in those two classes a bit.
