The fact was that she was hurt... And has been hurt for quite a while. I was sick to my stomach how some adults would boo any athlete , never mind a young lady competing in a young mans game, who by the way never gave up .. I only wish I could have used rulesguys video camera to tape how foolish all you ADULTS looked booing a teenage girl who already has accomplished more than most boys her age ever have.. It was gross ... You all should be ashamed .. Katlyn you are a warrior!!! And a class act. I can't wait to see you compete next year , good luck and stay healthy.

It is undeniable that it takes much courage and determination for Kaitlyn to accomplish what she has in the past three years. She is incredibly talented and pound-for-pound one of the strongest wrestlers I've seen. That being said, she does not receive the same treatment as our other athletes. How many times have we seen Kaitlyn claw for her opponents eyes, especially when she's losing late into the third period? How about when she's returning to the center of the mat after going out of bounds? It takes her nearly a minute each time between walking the perimeter of the mat and conversing with her corner before returning. Yet, I have never seen her called for unsportsmanlike conduct (eye gouging) or for stalling (postponing action by not returning promptly to the center of the mat). The fact is that any of our young male wrestlers would be called for either penalty. Not only would they be called on the penalty, but they would be yelled at by spectators and this is condoned because they are young men who can "handle it." I'm simply saying that we can no longer make exceptions for an athlete because of their gender. Kaitlyn has made the conscious decision to participate in wrestling and she has truly set a precedent. Let's not taint her accomplishments by making exceptions due to her gender. She deserves all of the praise and criticism that everyone of our hardworking male wrestlers receive. Hopefully, the officials will realize that they cannot officiate on a double standard and we will start seeing some of the aforementioned calls in her matches if she warrants them. Congratulations to all wrestlers this past weekend. Whether you placed or not, it's commendable to have even competed in the toughest state meet RI has to offer.

Now, you are getting into the people who controls what is going on in the center. They are in control. Not the spectators who should know if they have nothing nice to say to not say anything at all. If you claim there is eye gouging, hey then someone is not making the right calls. Needless to say, when she is spoken to you can see she is one of the nicest athletes out there. She will not be rude to anyone and has class. She does not deserve to be booed when she is trying her hardest, she should not be verbally accosted(to approach and speak to often in a challenging or aggressive way) by another coach or parent or spectator. That is going over the line. What happens in the circle you leave up to the refs to make the call. The other stuff can be controlled by all! In a sport that is in dyer need of more participants, we shouldn't be knocking one of the top ones down when she is at her best nor at her most painful moments.

It goes both ways, I don't think it's right for people to complain about people were saying to her during her semis match and not talk about the other side of it. Did you not see the Cranston west team in the corner? Did you not see Cole screaming obscenities at the cumberland kid? Did you not hear or see her classy boyfriend nick oconnel yelling out the word fag at him? Or how about them ridiculing the ref for every call that he made. That whole group has no class. She is great at wrestling no doubt and she doesn't act like the rest of them. Same thing for Everett, he's a nice kid and acts very respectful. However, the rest of the crew ruins it for them. It tarnishes their reputation.

it goes both ways really . what i did see and hear was from one side and you know who you are . you should really be ashamed of yourselfs . venticinque has more timeouts then anyone in the state and he never gets booed but to single her out is uncalled for. you adults should be so proud of yourselfs . and as far as cole everet and the rest of the cw crew they have more respect then most kids i have ever seen . by you guys doin what you did it spilled over to the people who care about her so if they were disrespectful then you guys made that happen

The only reason the CW kids were acting that way is because they are used to her being treated like that by those other fans. Yes, Nick did go off, and so did some other kids, but you must remember, they protect her. If you had a daughter you would want her protected the same way. Everrett and Ricondo see her as a sister of their own and they would defend her just like a dad would want his daughter defended by her brothers. And if you look at the match, that ref was making ridiculous calls. He shouldn't have been there. Bobby Venditto should've been there rather that ref, he was lucky Yanko was hurt. Horrible calls all day. He cracks, shaky at all times. smh. and you are comparing a couple of CW kids vs an entire crowd of parents who should know better.

honestly you think thats an excuse? i just told you it goes both ways. you CANT knock cumberland crowd and not say CW isnt wrong. if they were so classy they would keep their mouths shut instead and being the immature classless people they are. if you want to be better than them than shut up and act like it. yes cumberland crowd is wrong and i said that before. But CW KIDS ARE NO BETTER.

It all worked out in the end, with Altieri roughing up Beaudette yet again. I would expect the CW kids to get a little upset. They work their asses off in the room with her every day. The cumberland crowd is just always terrible, they're grown adults who should know better than to yell insults at a girl who is wrestling her hardest through injury. She seems to know that wrestling is a tough sport and if you don't like it you shouldn't be on the mat, cumberland didn't seem to agree with that. But either way you can't compare a bunch of kids who have been working hard to accomplish a goal to a bunch of parents, most of whom have probably never even wrestled before.

Never did I say cumberland nor put anyone's name out there, so address me correctly! And would love for you to tell me to shut up and act like it to my face. Would so love it. And there is no acting coming from me. There is knowing what is wrong and what is correct and knowing obviously that you have no class yourself and have proved that you pick at the stuff that refs should control and speak of nonsense. Cry Babies Go Home!

I agree with quite a few posts here, no need to cite them. Don't get me wrong, she's a great athlete, I give her all the credit in the world for winning that Judo championship in Singapore, and for being the fantastic wrestler she is. I would agree that she has to work her ass off to even level off with the rest of the contestants.
However, we have realize that she is just another contestant in the sport, good wrestler or not, she needs to act like any other contestant when they lose, or when they are losing.
What about Shai Lariviere who was injured out of the tournament? You didn't see him make a huge scene about being injured or being DQed because of injury. He sucked his pride up and walked off the mat like a man. Its his senior year, if anyone has more a right to be dramatic it was him, that was his last shot to win a championship in high school.
You didn't see Shai's coach make a huge deal out of it and raise his hand after he was DQed did you? No. Because the Cumberland coach is a class act, and a 100% respectable guy. Not only that, but someone knew when it was time to call it a day. I'm not sure if it was Shai or his coach, but SOMEONE with Cumberland knew when it was time to hang up the headgear because of an injury. If she was really THAT injured, and if she were really as smart as people play her up to be she would have known when to hang up the headgear for her own safety.
Now, I'm not to say that the Cumberland wrestler who eliminated Katilyn from the Championship bracket is faultless either, because he clearly was stalling throughout the match, and definitely made a huge deal about the alleged biting of his arm which was clearly caused by his crossface.
On the note of the spectators during her match, I was standing right behind the Cumberland wrestlers supporting their team mate and I didn't hear nearly as much profanity nor did I hear even close to as many classless statements as I heard out of the CW kids. The CW kids including her boyfriend were outright disrespectful and had I been the official during that match I would have addressed it.
Speaking of the officiating, the officiating of that match was horrid. They officials blew that one. There was so much stalling on both sides it wasn't even funny, the Cumberland wrestler was backing off from her and letting her drive him out of the circle, she was performing her usual stalling routine etc.

He didn't wrestle on the hurt angle because someone, either his coach or him, knew that it would be an idiot move to do so. Wrestling injured only can bring you so much respect. There DOES come a point when doing it is just idiotic.
And either way, my initial point still stands, she and her father both were overly dramatic.
