i dont know how anyone else feels but i am personally embarrassed for any1 who voted for OW at the tourny...To give it to Nelson is understandable if Hurst didnt beat 2 allstate kids including pinning one in the semis and beating malaghan in the finals in ot......not to mention the kid is a freshman......wake up and next time do whats right!!!!!!

grappler21 Icouldn't agree with you more !! Not only is Hurst a freashman he also wrestled up a weight class. From what I understand he is going to be vets 103.Isaw both his matches against Hiebner & Malaghan. I think it was 32 seconds for Hiebner. He wrestled so smart against Malaghan there is nothing left to say,he definitly deserved OW.I think switchit better do his homework before he puts out rankings.Hurst is going to be someone to contend with.

Didn't get whole thought out.... Devin should have been OW, no doubt.....was he even voted on. How could anyone overlook what he did, as others state - beat last yr State Champ in very smart match and Heibner who looked like he di dnot know what hit him. This is why while rankings early are good - cannot put to much stock in them and get upset as not everyone knows who is out there and what weights will be! Good tourny for all and great job Devin !

Didn't the same thing happen last year? I think it was Matthews. He beat Petrucci (who had placed fourth in states the year before). Not to take anything away from him, but it didn't warrant OW.
OTH, Meyers was a freshman who destroyed all of his competition and certainly deserved consideration. Or Hayek, who beat a defending state champion (Packhem) and pinned everyone else he faced, including his finals match.
It's a shame, but you just can't fight the politics.

The differance being Mathews & Pertrucci were both seniors last year.Myers should have gotten any of the OW last year that were availible.Hurst beating a senior and last years state champion definitly warrants OW !!!!!

McGarry has a nice cradle when he can hit it. He does have a tendency, though to get emotional on the mat and that sometimes makes him lose focus

Petrucci was a state champ the year before he was 4th. when he got 4th, i think belanger was champ. paolucci was in that class and someone else who was real good. that was as stacked a class as there ever has been. mathews vs. petrucci was a big showdown and i think mathews majored him, which influenced the votes for ow. it was also a preview of the state finals last year.

Paolucci was 135 for that tourny.
Matthews wrestled Comstock, Audette and Petrucci. And Matthews looked less dominant than Petrucci looked flat in the finals. What you did two years ago shouldn't count, nor should what you might do in the future. Still don't think it was the right choice.

the year petrucci was 4th in the state, it was a stacked wt. class. Look at the top 4. I wasn't at the tourni yesterday but i'm sold that the 112 should have been ow. When you beat a former state champ in the finals it is huge. Mathews beat a former state champ.

matthews should have gotten ow he didnt just beat petrucci he dominated him. hurst should have gotten ow everyone knew nelson was going to domintate nobody gave hurst a chance. this same thing happend at the chad antoch last year with coutu and banks both dominating as expected then a kid from 125 out of know where destroys the comp and wrecked hunt.

This would be a valid argument if Mathews had won OW at States last year. But, coincidentally, Connor Nelson also won OW last year at states. So this argument is over nothing.
