In the image above (click link to see image if you cant see it here), the wrestler in white is the defensive wrestler and the wrestler in blue (the one holding the single) is the offensive wrestler. After the defensive wrestler attempted a stand up, the offensive wrestler reduced to the single and held on. At the exact point in the photo above, the referee is calling the offensive wrestler for stalling for simply holding on and not trying to better his position. This is the 2 point penalty in the sequence. What is the correct response by the referee listed below according to NFHS rules?
A) Stop the match immediately. Referee's must ALWAYS stop the match when penalizing for stalling. Award the 2 points and give the opponent choice of position at the restart.
B) Signal the stalling and award the points. Allow the match to continue as the defensive wrestler, who is not stalling, is actively attempting an escape or reversal. Stop the match after the significant action has taken place. Give the opponent choice of position at the next appropriate restart.
C) Signal the stalling and award the points. Allow the match to continue as the defensive wrester, who is not stalling, is on their feet. Stop the match once the defensive wrestler is brought to the mat or another rule required reason occurs. Give the opponent choice of position at the next appropriate restart.
D) Stop the match immediately. The 2 point stall call must always be stopped regardless of position unless the stalling violation is related to the shoe/laces. Award the 2 points and give the opponent choice of position at the restart.
