2020 JV/Freshman states

The Coventry gym is enormous, so they have about 5 mats in there and they go through the biggest weight first in each category, then after any pigtails or weights with a lot of kids the tournaments going to go just like any other. The only difference from any other tournament is the amount of matches you have to keep track of, good luck to your son(s) participating!!

All freshmen wrestle in one tournament, regardless of being varsity or JV, while all non-freshmen JV are in their own tournament.

Cumberland looked strong in winning with 265 points, finishing with 3 frosh finalists, one a champ, and 3 thirds, while the jv's had 3 champs and 5 thirds. The Clippers lose a ton of talented seniors after this season but look to be able to fill a lot of those spots next year. Cranston West was a solid second with 243 points and 3 frosh champs, a 2nd and 2 thirds, with the jv's getting a champ, runner-up, 3rd and 4th. CW and Cumby had by far the most entrants with 29 and 26, respectively. North Providence placed third as a team with 178 points followed by Hope, Hendricken, Coventry and NK all with over 100 points, so the upper echelon teams seem to keep restocking talent. Some of the teams with sparse lineups this season such as EWG, Scituate, Central Falls, Middletown and Narragansett entered most of their starters and had some success. I also note that while State power Ponaganset placed 17th of the 30 teams they did so without frosh stars Joyce and Baccala, who are potential placers in the varsity state tournament this weekend.
