I can't remember the last time an RI wrestler won the George Bossi Lowell Holiday Tournament, so having two champs in the same season is really a feat. The Lowell tourney is the best in-season wrestling tournament in New England, with notable teams from every NE state including longtime NE powers Timberlane, NH and Mt. Anthony, VT, with a lot of the top Mass. wrestlers. Kyle won at 145 lbs with a 4-2 decision over Mahari Miller of Springfield Central, who is ranked 2nd at that weightclass in Mass. Along the way he beat former NE 5th place-winner Keegan Coon of Mt. Anthony. Edison topped Antonio Ramos of Agawam 6-2 in OT. Ramos is the top ranked 285 wrestler in Mass. Guarcas had finished second last season at Lowell losing to the eventual NE Champ. Both of these wrestlers should be highly ranked in NE at their weights and be strong contenders in March. Chariho also had place-winners in Nathan Marchione 3rd at 195, losing only to former NE Champ Wilkins of Mt. Anthony, and James Dougherty 7th at 170. Hope had Nicholas Torres and Parris Cooper 4th at 106 and 138, respectively, while Jonathan Feliz was 8th at 182. Hope finished 5th as a team in the 80 school field, a terrific job, while Chariho was 13th. LaSalle also participated in the tourney.
