Does anyone know where we can find team standings?

go to RIIL.org then select sport, then wrestling. Down towards the bottom select team and individual results. That takes you to track wrestling. On track wrestling across the top there is a blue band. The 4th selection over is standings.
If you are using your phone there will be a blue band near the top of the screen, and over to the right will be 3 gray dots. Selecting that will give you the option for standings.

I was wondering the same thing. Any help would be appreciated. And does anyone know if Villanova for Pongagansett will be wrestling tonight in the tri meet with Cranston West and Mt Hope?? Really want to see the Grifka/Villanova match at 160.

Went to the tri meet at Cranston West last night. The 160 weight class continues to prove to be any kids title come State Tourney time. Grifka from Mt Hope beat Villanova from Ponagansett 6-3. It was a great match. Based off the latest power rankings in this thread for the 160 weight this freshman Grifka from Mt Hope is 3-0 on the year vs the 1-2 ranked kids in Burgess and Villanova. Everyone in this weight class seems to be beating each other. Will be interesting to see the seedings in the State Tourney.
Was my first time seeing Ponagansett this year and I think we are looking at the team State champs. Very impressive team.

Great explanation regarding power points. Do in season tournament wins/placements give points towards your power points total? The answer is unfortunately no, in terms or initial power points. The reason is teams and schools have vastly different budgets and resources. Some teams go to 5 extra tournaments, some 1 or none. It would be unfair to unbalance a formulaic seeding criteria when some wrestlers do not have those opportunities. Also, tournaments are difficult to equate. Let’s assume there are two wrestlers to compare and they each go to one extra tournament. One wrestler goes to the Smithfield Invitational and takes 2nd and the other goes to the Lowell Holiday, goes 7-2 and doesn’t place. The Smithfield Invitational is a nice event with some solid wrestling, but it is not to level of competition or the grind that the Lowell Holiday is. So, how do these separate results equate? Which accomplishment is more prestigious or telling of ability? In a formulaic system, which Power Points are, comparing this material is simply unfair. Head-to-head tournament victories can be used in moving seeds after the initial power points have been laid out. In situations in which the wrestlers are 1-1, the dual meet win takes precedent. Also, as stated in the previous post, comparisons can only be made from the bottom up and only directly above.

Is the regular season now over? If so when do the tournament seedings get figured out?

Is the regular season now over? If so when do the tournament seedings get figured out? Seeds are usually done the weekend before...the day of the frosh/jv States.

The 160 weight class is deep. I've personally watched the freshman Cory Grifka from Mt Hope beat Burgess from Johnston twice. 10-6 in the opening Mt Hope tourney and 3-0 in a dual meet. Grifka went on to beat the Hope wrestler 5-1 in the final. I started following him after that tourney because I was shocked he beat Burgess. He has only two losses on the year 1-0 vs Dougherty and 5-1 vs Holedrege. He didn't wrestle vs Metcalf in a dual meet for some reason and also appears Brown didn't wrestle vs him in that dual meet. Those would have been two great matches to see. Looking at the schedule it Grifka will wrestle Villanova on tomorrow night in a tri meet with Cranston West. I've really put in my research on Grifka because I was so impressed with him at that holiday tourney and even more when I found out he was a freshman. It appears he is 25-2 on the year. My 160 rankings are as follows. 1 Villanova 2 Dougherty 3 Grifka 4 Burgess 5 Holdrege 6 Metcalf 7 Brown Will be an interesting State Tourney at this weight class and could see anyone of these 7 taking home the title.

At the 160 Weight class BH has a sophmore Noah Robert who was a transfer from Cranston West. He was the RIIL freshman state champ last year at 152. He was not eligible for the Mt Hope and ponogansette dual meets due to having to sit out 1/2 the season because of being a Transfer. Metcalf had a concussion the night of the tri meet with BH, Coventry and Johnston. Robert lost to Burgess 6-2 with last minute points, it was 2-2 most of the Match. He defeated Coventry's replacement. Robert had the flu the week of Chariho and unfortunately did not get to wrestle. So he has not been there to test most of the top 5. Watch him in the state tournament, he could throw off your predictions.

Good info USACoach. Thanks. In my opinion just another name to throw in there at this weight class which I feel is wide open. Going to be a good group of wrestlers battling it out at States. Based on the seeding explanation in a previous post it appears this young man will have a lower seed in tourney based on him not wrestling much this year in the weight class?

Hopefully He won’t be a Low seed. Winning states last year will give him power points plus I think they have a special circumstance clause. You don’t want to have a low seed being somebody who is very good because he could take someone out that should be in for the long-haul while leaving kids in with not many wins during the season.

Freshman state champ and winning states as a freshman is a whole different story I don’t think they do special circumstances for a freshman state champ

I was thinking the same thing as far as power points for winning the freshman state title. That's a great accomplishment but don't feel it should give extra power points for the varsity state tourney the following year. No clue if there are special circumstances but from what I've read about seeding and power points this young man might end up with a lower seed. Either way there are going to be a lot of very capable wrestlers at this weight. Wide open tourney that could be won by any of these kids. Will be fun to watch.

Freshman or JV state place winners do not receive a Power Point Bonus. Those tournaments are separate and apart from varsity tournament competition. Special Circumstances require the following: 1. An undefeated dual meet record at the weight you are being seeded at for the state tournament. 2. A coach (not necessarily your coach, but it can be) to nominate the wrestler for the special circumstance. 3. A vote of the coaches in the seeding meeting to place that wrestler at either the #1 or #2 seed. If the wrestler is not undefeated at weight, or the coaches do not feel the wrestler is better than the #1 or #2, then the wrestler will be slotted according to the seeding formula with everyone else.

Agreed. 160 is so open that seeding won’t really matter once you reach quarters it’s a battle to the top from there on really
