If people want to talk about deep weight classes, look at 132. Torres and Forand are former finalist. Brodeur, Teves and Swanson are all returning place finishers. Great weight class. Add in McGill, who dominated at the freshman states. I will be watching that weight class closely

I'm not sure what you are paying attention to then. Sauro is, I believe, completely undefeated in New England. Even RI studs like Celico, Cardosa, Bloom, Howard, Jarrel, Francis, Peoples and Giorgio have lost to out-of-state competitors. Sure, different teams and different tournaments, but Sauro has won against Mt. Anthony and Springfield Central, possibly the top two teams in New England, and won Capitol City against good NH and Maine competition. He did, of course, lose badly to a nationally-ranked wrestler from Blair Academy, but that's another world altogether. In little RI and tidy New England wrestling he deserves strong consideration. The only other RI wrestlers I think are completely undfeated in RI and NE are Merritt, O'Connell and Bivona. Are there any others I'm missing, or have any of those lost? The great thing about the pound-for-pound argument is that it's completely unprovable and a matter of opinion. Howard is not going to wrestle Sauro, and Bivona is not going against Cardosa. Let's first see how everyone does at States (where Mssrs. Soto, Skawinski, DiMauro and Rivet - among others - await)! Then let's see who advances at NE's, where the competition is a better test of ability. Desantis from chariho at 220 has pinned everyone but one kid the 1st period in RI and at out of state tournaments this year. Thanks, I completely whiffed on DeSantis who has been absolutely dominating in and out of state, and pinned both Millen and Davis at heavy. Interestingly I believe Fenwick is undefeated too, but he missed meaningful tournaments like Lowell and Mt. Anthony and even the Mt. Hope tourney. And isn't Conte undefeated in his brief return?

Just wondering why Torres is a 2 time middle school champ, a Freshmen champion, Varsity he has been a runner up and placed 3rd. Does that mean anything. Im a wrestling novice so please explain.

You get 30 in weight points for a pin and 24 for out of weight. Duran could upset someone at 160 Matfan. He didn't wrestle Francis according to RIIL because Bivona wrestled 160 that night and beat Francis by decision, but something tells me Duran is tough, especially since he's probably practicing with Bivona and SK 170. (Acevedo) who got 2nd seed according to brackets online.

DeSantis and Conte will be a good semi final to watch. ...im not familiar with the O'Conner kid but he has Fenwick in the quarters....that could be interesting. Torres / forand quarters also. Lundston/Johnson is interesting In the quarters. We are going to be watching some guys wrestling back that we didn't expect to see in the consolation round on friday night. That much you can count on

if you are a wrestler or parent in this forum, please refrain from making outlandish statements about yourself or your son/daughter. We understand your rooting for yourself and your son but be humble about it. Did we really just mention middle school states here? Should we start talking about the matches kids wrestle in practice too?
