Pierce has a good chance but he has to fight through gorgio. If anyone but howard wins 138 they will probable get ow, but Howard is a stud so I think he will take it.

Laurenco should make finals. But will have a tough match with returning champ Howard or returning finalist Soto. How'd Soto get 2 seed and Laurenco the 4. Soto only wrestled 4 matches. Laurenco was like 11-0

Okay, I do rankings, but I will make predictions (without knowing the bracket) with some upsets. 106: Nappi over Brown 113: Celico over Bloom 120: Cardoso over Rivet 126: DiSano over Jerez 132: Brodeur over Torres 138: Howard over Lourenco 145: O'Connell (OW) over Jerrel 152: Bivona over DiMauro 160: Francis over Peoples 170: Lundston over Jerrell 182: Sauro over Skawinski 195: Giorgio over Martino 220: Fenwick over DeSantis 285: Benedetti over Morvillo 170 JARRELL pins lundston in 32 seconds with wings. smokey bones, extra hot and spicy. if he even makes it to finals You do realize Lundston beat him last year, right

Laurenco was like 11-0 I am sure Coach Leal did this on purpose. Put him on opposite side of bracket from Howard. Very smart. I think Howard wins, but Lourenco's length is a tough match up for anybody

In the real world its called sandbagging !!! In other words trying to avoid a certain wrestler out of fear !!!! Its done in all sports, its just a way of manipulating the brackets to ones benefit !! Sad but that's how it goes !!!!!!!!!!!!

Not fear. Just strategically putting a kid in the best position to get in finals. My question was one kid is 11-0. He's the 4. Other is 4-0 he's the 2. How

Bc soto was a finalist last year he had the opportunity to appeal for a top seed bc it was a medical exemption....no sandbagging...a legit injury.

Who do you think will get OW? Jarrell has a good chance if he pins through. Sauro should also walk through. The winner of 120 cordoso could also get it

Nothing is done on purpose. It is impossible for wrestlers to dodge each other in this tournament the way the seeding is set up. He is there for a reason, most likely less power point than the three seed and no head to head matchup

I believe the brackets will either be out tonight or sometime tomorrow and truly cannot wait for this upcoming weekend. My predictions are the following: 106 Nappi - BH Merritt - Char. Young - Cov. Mountain - LSA Bautista - Cumb. Hamilton - WW 113 Celico - BH Boom - MB Pereschino - EWG Porcaro - Cumb. Myers - Narr. Robichaud - Cov. 120 (Toughest Weight Class IMO) Cardosa (Lock) - Mt. Hope Rivet - BH Hussey - EP Brown - Cov. Eastham - WW Martinez - Mt. P 126 DiSano - BH Jerez - Woon. Stamas - EWG Creamer - Cumb. Gomez - CW Leite - EP 132 Torres - Mt. Hope Brodeur - Cov. Teves - MB Forand - LSA Morra - Linc. Celico - BH 138 Howard (Lock) - MB Lourenco - WV Soto - Johnston Gomez - CW McCarron - NP Martinez - LSA 145 O'Connell (Lock) - CW Caparco - Johnston Jerrell - EG Arruda - BH Cargill - Cumb. Thomas - WV 152 Bivona - SK Dimauro - BH Smith-EG Ribezzo - Johnston Almonte - CW Salazar - WW 160 Francis - LSA Stewart - BH Peoples - EP Duran - SK Hayes - Cumb. Wrzsesion - Char. I totally 100% disagree on 120. It is one of the weakest classes this year. I'll bet there are a few guys below and above wishing they had made an effort to get there. I think Celico and Bloom would both beat Cardosa. I think Jerez and Creamer would be no worse than #2. Any time you end up with a "lock" it weakens the entire class.
Even with Soto bumping up, 132 is deep. Torres, Brodeur, Teves, Forand, and Celico are all state placers.

Nappi Celico Cardosa Diisano Teves Soto (OW) O'connell DiMauro Peoples Jerrell Sauro Martino Conti 285 toss up
i like Cardosa as a New England top place finisher too. Strong kid and great wrestling IQ. Rivet is great just too young? i like Teves coming back from injury. He looked great vs soto at the beginning of the year. Possible OW for Teves. I like Soto upsetting last years 132 champ Howard in semis And then beating Lourenco in finals. Ow for soto that would be two upsets back to back. Love O'Connell. He looks great this year on his feet. See him as a lock DiMauro needs to make it happen this year. hes been a top seed just hasn't been able to make it to the finals. Sauro might be the best pound for pound wrestler in this state. Martino didn't look bad in his match up earlier this season I like him upsetting here

I saw somewhere on the board that Disano was the next 4 timer. I'd say Nappi has a better chance than Rivet or Disano to pull it off. Giblin, Meyers, and Altieri all started at the lowest weight class(103 at the time)and moved up in weight accordingly.
To jump into high school at a heavier class and be a 4 timer would be difficult to impossible. If you want to see the next 4 timer watch 106.

If you think Sauro is best pound for pound in state you haven't been paying attention closely I'm not sure what you are paying attention to then. Sauro is, I believe, completely undefeated in New England. Even RI studs like Celico, Cardosa, Bloom, Howard, Jarrel, Francis, Peoples and Giorgio have lost to out-of-state competitors. Sure, different teams and different tournaments, but Sauro has won against Mt. Anthony and Springfield Central, possibly the top two teams in New England, and won Capitol City against good NH and Maine competition. He did, of course, lose badly to a nationally-ranked wrestler from Blair Academy, but that's another world altogether. In little RI and tidy New England wrestling he deserves strong consideration. The only other RI wrestlers I think are completely undfeated in RI and NE are Merritt, O'Connell and Bivona. Are there any others I'm missing, or have any of those lost? The great thing about the pound-for-pound argument is that it's completely unprovable and a matter of opinion. Howard is not going to wrestle Sauro, and Bivona is not going against Cardosa. Let's first see how everyone does at States (where Mssrs. Soto, Skawinski, DiMauro and Rivet - among others - await)! Then let's see who advances at NE's, where the competition is a better test of ability.

I think the 160 should be a strong weight class and one where the winner could be any number of people all close in ability. In addition to the big three Peoples Stewart and Francis there are some D2 kids who have been wrestling well. I am in the dark about the seeding process but I find it strange that Duran from SK is seeded fourth when he wrestled two times at 160 against unseeded wrestlers and the rest of his matches at 152. It doesn't make sense he is higher than guys who actually faced and defeated wrestlers in the weight class.

If Soto could get in finals vs Laurenco I like his chances at OW. But he will definitely have a uphill battle. Pound for pound is a waste of time to argue about. Bigger guys can't match up with the speed of smaller guys. Smaller guys are not strong enough for the big guys. So don't waste your time.

Seeding is done by power points first. So if you have 14 wins and 12 are at a smaller weight class you would lose 6pts per match out of weight. Then they do head to heads. If it comes into play.
