Last year’s first ever New England Coaches’ Clinic was a huge success. Over 60 coaches registered for the event. There was a ton of positive feedback so we are bringing it back this year. Our goal is to double that attendance number. Let’s continue to strive towards wrestling excellence in New England! Please register by March 21st. Featuring: J.P. O’Connor Harvard Assistant Coach 2010 NCAA national champion J.P. O'Connor is currently in his third season as a member of the Harvard wrestling coaching staff, rejoining the Crimson after enjoying one of the most decorated careers in program history. O’Connor became Harvard’s third national champion in 2010 when he claimed the 157 lbs. title with a 6-4 win over Cal Poly’s Chase Pami. O’Connor finished his senior campaign with a perfect 35-0 record and was named both the EIWA and Ivy League Wrestler of the year. He is the only Crimson grappler to ever complete an undefeated season while his 35 wins that year rank as the fourth most in program history. Please register by March 21st. Featuring: Rhode Island's own... Jay Jones Rhode Island College Head Coach Jay Jones is currently in his 15th season as Rhode Island College's head wrestling coach. He also serves on the Executive Committee for the NCAA Div. III Wrestling Coaches Association. He owns a 183-134-1 (.577) career record. In the past 14 years, Jones has coached one National Champion, three All-Americans, 60 All-New England wrestlers, eight New England Champions, 14 national qualifiers and 16 Academic All-Americans. Featuring: Jay Weiss Harvard Head Coach The two-time EIWA Coach of the Year has mentored two national champions, 16 EIWA champions and 19 All-American's during his 20 seasons at the helm of the Crimson, creating a culture of excellence never seen before. Harvard extended its streak of producing All-Americans at the NCAA Championships last year when Steven Keith '13 and Walter Peppelman '12-'13 placed eighth at 133 lbs. and 157 lbs., respectively. This marked the seventh consecutive season Harvard has produced at least one All-American under Weiss. Weiss was named the Wrestling USA 2008 Massachusetts Person of the Year. He received the honor not only for his coaching at Harvard but his support and development of the sport on the youth level. His work with Massachusetts Junior National team and clinics has raised the level of training, technique and competition throughout the state. Please register by March 21st.
