I give Davol a lot of credit. I didn't think he would be able to hang with Beaudette or Altieri. You can say he's already a state champion blah blah blah but winning states at 106 as a junior is one thing. Beating a senior like Beaudette at 120 is a whole different matter.

Davol had the better night. I truly believe the outcome at states will be a different story at states. And who knows with altieri in the mix...is he staying at 120

Davol wrestled great. I just don't see that outcome happening again. It'll be exciting to watch! I think 11-4 looks pretty dominating...

Thanks Rulesguy for answering that for me,now I understand the injury timeouts it still is a shame that a true wrestler would abuse it like that if it were the case and in that one it was very obvious, but I now understand the legality of the refs responsibility, thats why I think that College rule that is in place would be more beneficial to even the HS wrestlers and take that liability away from the Refs,by the way the officiating in last nites dual was top notch!!!Great Job!!

There is a lot more adrenaline flowing @ the States and I personally think that @ anytime any wrestler can bring their game to the states and come out on top,so be very careful to point the fingers @ any one wrestler, anyone can have an off nite as well as a wrestler bringing their A game as Davol did last nite,I have seen even the best wrestlers get stuck over the yrs,so be careful and wrestle hard and be humble win or lose cause you just never know!!!Looking forward to another great yr @ States and NE's,Good luck to all...

You make it seem like winning the states is an easy task. Winning the states is a very impressive feat, no matter the weight class. You have to be a top athlete, with years of dedication and tons of heart. Only 14 wrestlers accomplish the goal each year. I have been watching RI wrestling for close to 25 years. Some of the greatest wrestlers in recent history have been from the 103/106 weight class. Lariviere, Feely, Martin, Myers, Ferreira, Goff, where all NE champs to name a few. Davol is one of the best pound for pound wrestlers in the state. Altieri, Beaudette, and him make up one of the best weight classes in recent history. All 3 guys are studs and deserve tons of credit

If that's the case why bother going for another one? There are always new challenges and all of these kids are continually proving themselves. It is my opinion winning this class this year would prove more than winning 106 last year.

Ok JZappa, from now on Ill think to myself, but the 25 or so people I was sitting around also felt the same way,be careful with your choice of words,I did not mention a wrestler by name it was just an obvious situation, and you are right ,I dont know the whole situation, but sometimes if it walks like a duck ,its a duck....And feel free to hunt me down and call me stupid at the states and we can talk about it.The rulesguy was nice enough to explain the rule and I agree 100% with that and his explanation, but I also agree that the rule has been abused at times and it appeared very strongly at that time and the symptoms actually showed after the match,so just watch who you call stupid or like I said Find me............

OK everyone, let's all take a deep breath and count to 10. Are we all calm now??? We are just talking about high school wrestling, right? I know that we all get a little emotional when we start to talk about our kids or team, and we want to defend them, but it is getting a little out of hand. This is not an adult forum, and many wrestlers go on it, and we are not setting a good example for them. We had another outstanding regular season, one with a little controversy as always, but that's what makes it fun. At this point in time, it does not matter who beat who, everone has a fresh start to prove themselves in the State Tournamant. We all have the right to post our opinions on this forum, but let's try to keep the comments above the waist. Good Luck too all...

Right on Maddog, truth of the matter is we will all @ NE"s be routing for the same RI kid to come out on top.But this is a wrestling sight and I dont know about you but I teach my boys to respect first but also not to pay attention to all the liberal bull* that goes on in the world today, and if for some reason they get hit below the belt then strike back a little harder.I think this Country is becoming a little too soft!!!! (just saying)Respect ALL!!!!! Fear None!!!!!!!!!!!! (lets not soften the Boys too much, they may be out there defending our freedoms some day!!!!!!) oops, did I say something that OFFENDED SOMEONE!!!!

Maddog,I have said it in past posts before that no matter the outcome, each and everyone of those boys that step on the mat as a team player are already winners!!!! It takes alot more than just the wrestling skills alone to be a wrestler.Respect,Pride ,Discipline and lots more..........Good luck to all !!!!!!!!!! Its that time of the season!!!!!!!!

I guess we both have nothing to do at 5am. I totally agree with you if we were talking about the real world, but we are talking about a high school wrestling forum. Take a look at your Avatar, it is a cartoon picture of a kid, which this is all about, OUR KIDS. For example, the last rankings that was posted, my son was ranked lower than what I think he should have been, he wrestled Div 1, and was undefeated in duel meets, and a 30-9 record overall. I was going to comment on that, but I will let him take care of that on the mat at States. When it comes to wrestlng, I love a good arguement, and will back my opinion to death, but I will stop when it starts to get off topic and personal because once again, we are only talking about a HIGH SCHOOL SPORT...

I hear ya,and good luck to your son and don"t pay to much attention to those rankings, you are right, they take care of buisness on the mat,and I always loved the so called underdog!!! Wish Him luck, but with that record it doesnt sound like he needs much, give him an Honorable Mention from me!!!!!!!!

Wrestler83 --------Just for the record- there is no way I wish to hunt you or anyone else down- sorry you took my comment to heart--- I did not call you stupid and wouldn't do that- I said that what you had said made you look stupid... there is a difference- however---my main point is that while you did not mention a wrestler by name, it was clear that you were speaking about a Cumberland wrestler, in a thread about the Cumberland- Hendricken match-- so that the 400 or more people who attended the match know exactly who you were referring to.... anyway------ lots of things can look seemingly obvious-- especially when you are rooting hard for your team's wrestlers-- it doesn't make it true though---- anyway--- if the wrestler did what you and others-- the 25 people around you feel on purpose----he either was in fact tired, knew the rules, used them to his advantage and won the match---my opinion for what opinions are worth- is that he did not do this-- but if he did- well it's within the rules, and someone can take advantage of the rules as they are written--- that's why they are still rules--- personally I do think he was hurt at least temporarily--- and after the match, just because someone barfs up their lunch-- it does not mean they are "clearly out of shape"---. Anyway-- maybe I am the thin skinned person who put myself in that wrestler's shoes for a minute and was offended by what you wrote....anyway-- I hope the wrestler you referred to did not read your opinion unless he wants to use it as motivation--anyway- lets bury this one Wrestler83- I just happen to know the wrestler you had referred to and it was upsetting to me at the time. I am over it--let's move forward.

Im moving forward, was only there to support one wrestler, that match had no bearing on me,I actually like a couple wrestlers from Cumberland and my son wrestles for neither team,I was just questioning an injury timeout that can be abused at times ,that's all,and after questioning rulesguy it appears it is a rule that can be abused and I wanted to know the details of it,which was well answered. As stated it is abused at times for guys to catch their breath and if I am wrong for what I saw I apologize,no hard feelings,as long as the boy is ok is all that matters, and it appears he was just fine!!! Just wanted to question a controversial rule that is abused by many and rulesguy explained it well.Good luck at States....Just didn't care for the Im stupid comment, but I have been called worse..lol
