So Wiseowl, other than my team rankings I think my predictions at each weight are pretty accurate. If you disagree, I'd love to see what type of rankings you can put together. I don't do rankings, I leave that to Switchit, and Seedingpro who do a great job. BUT, I can offer insight on the wrestlers, and I know whats going on in the wrestling scene, and know Johnston will not have that many top 3's. Rankings are fun to do, names will change, upsets will happen, but one set is all we need. Offer names, insight, and resons why, and see where the chips fall

It looks like a good idea if you live in Johnston. But unfortunately Johnston will not have 7 top 3. Not even close. The last time they had 7 top 3 I think was 2000. Or maybe 6 top 4.

An update will be done by mid Thursday waiting for a few more tournaments to come back with results.
Some people have taken stabs but I think mine are a little different than theirs. Just as a comment to the super pro Johnston rankings. Some of those high ranked kids have had losses to instate kids already at tournaments. And finished team wise bellow Mt hope granted both didn't have their full lineup at Mt hopes tournament.

I like everyones predictions, its certainly a tough thing to do. the differing of opinions is what makes this particular thread so much fun. it would make it easier for pre season if we all provided any info we may have. with that said, even coaches don't know exactly where kids will end up, they grow, they work hard or don't work at all in off season, I like the predictions and how accurate or inaccurate they are turn out. let's have a great two months of wrestling... good luck to everyone and happy New year.

Hope everyone had a good holidays! Does anyone have a surprise wrestler(s) or team so far this year? It seems like EWG and BH are doing rather well in out of state tournaments so far. I have noticed several upsets in various tournaments as well. I am anxious to see the new rankings!

I have noticed several upsets in various tournaments as well. I am anxious to see the new rankings! It depends on what you mean by surprise wrestler. There is nobody that I didn't know about that could win a championship, however there are a few wrestlers that I didn't know about that have impressed me. Danis 138 of Coventry just pinned Clark of Ponagansett, and beat Rutledge of Middletown at the Chad Antioch tournament. I was surprised that Jerrell beat Travers (not of his ability, just very impressive win considering I think that was his first match back after last year's injury). Short 152 of Westerly was very impressive at Chad Antioch. I never heard of Lanphier 120 of Chariho, who took 2nd at Chad Antioch. O'Connor at 170 of Middletown looked good, so did Rocco of Coventry 182, and Chapman HW of Narragansett. I didn't know about any of them and they all looked very good yesterday.

Beaudette beat Altieri tonight by injury default. Does anyone know the particulars?

It was tied 0-0 after the first. Both wrestlers were looking strong. At the beginning of the second, Beaudette was down and hit a hard switch. It looked as though Altieri's arm was caught under Beaudette's when he twisted and his shoulder dislocated. Beaudette scored one for escape and then it became apparent that Altieri was injured and could not continue.

However, High School Wrestling isn't the end all, be all. He will have a great college career too. Hopefully, he will let it heal properly and come back stronger than ever!

I think this is the year Beaudette finally beats Altieri and wins states. It's been close the last few meetings.
Beaudette has just enough length, experience, and technique to give Altieri problems. If you saw Altieri at New England's last year Zogby and Gassaway gave him fits with the same attributes. Regardless of the outcome 120 will be an interesting class at states.

I hope your wrong, I have nothing against Beaudette, he is very talented and deserves to win a state championship, however I would like to see Altieri win 4 in a row.
