What are these eggheads thinking?--- wrestling, like track dates back to the Greeks who founded the spirit on which the Olympics is based. How can we have some of these new fringe sports and not have wrestling? Is track and field next? What about BMX biking, synchronized swimming, beach volleyball, rythmic gymnastics, handball- to name a few to ditch first.... of all the sports that truly represent head to head competition, wrestling is basic.
Having the Olympics without wrestling, is like having a spelling bee without one of the vowels. Stupid...........

The sport of Wrestling was steadily growing in popularity again all over the world due to the surge of MMA which helped people realize it is a formidable form of martial art and sport.(It was always a main sport in places like IRAN, RUSSIA, INDIA). It show cased that any gender or size person with, or with out handicaps could participate and be successful in it. Now they remove what is the truest Sense of sport, and leave crap like Speed walking and Curling, etc...They also kill thousand of kids dreams all over the world who worked hard to compete on the Worlds biggest stage.

This is not meant to offend anyone, but wrestling is so old that it is mentioned in the Bible, Genesis chapter 32. Jacob wrestles with a man (whom kind of looks like an angel) all night long until he is blessed. The man asks Jacob's name, then tells him that his name is no longer Jacob, but Israel, because he has wrestled with God and with man.
