Tough to be on fire with temperatures this week just above zero!--- anyway- I don't know if they are on fire, but Hendricken has to be favored going into states---I think states will be very interesting this year in that there are a number of teams with two or three top wrestlers. I happen to be a Cumberland fan-- and while I have learned never to count the defending champ out--- this year Travers at 152 and Maccini at 145 will have to come up big as they have the difficult task of upending the LaBries in order to give the Clippers a real chance at repeating. Cumberland has some nice surprises in their lineup this year. It will take a great day of wrestling by all for them to repeat----in addition, Johnston has tied them in dual meet competition as has Mt. Hope--- and Johnston also took Cumberland's own tourney title....as always- it will come down to good health and then top performances by all of the team's wrestlers not just a few like Warwick Vets did two years ago. So who can win states? Hendricken, EWG, Johnston, Mt. Hope, Cumberland, Warwick Vets have the best chance with LaSalle, East Providence also in the mix---anyway--just my views from the cold North in Cumberland-- for what they are worth-- Wrestle on!

Jzappa is right. Hendricken should be the favorite. All these teams have their studs, the state championship will be decided by woo has the most place fineshers 3-6. That's why it is a "team " championship.

By the way- just to clarify one line in my earlier comment---two years ago,Warwick Vets entire team wrestled great top to bottom-- (not just a few of their best wrestlers)--

Hendricken should win states. Battle for second spot is in question. Johnston , EWG , Vets , Mt Hope , 2nd place will as always come down to 2nd tier kids in wrestle backs. How many finalist will Hendricken have. I mean "should" have.

Johnston seems to be doing well in some of the smaller tournaments, so may prove to be valuable for that 2nd spot. But it's so close between the other teams I mentioned above. I just don't see anyone touching BH with there depth.

EWG has 3 finalists so if they can get some help they could definitely sneak in the 2 spot.

I dont see EWG finishing ahead of Johnston this yr,its just not happening,Labries and Neff to the finals but will fall short elsewhere,I think Cristian is Hurt and wish him a speedy recovery in time for states.

EWG vs JHS always a close exciting dual meet if I remember. To bad it won't happen this year.

What Johnston needs is a Heavywt and a healthy 113 and there is no stopping us,also a couple deep in each wt class wouldnt be bad,we have 2 of the best coaches a school could ask for and thier dedication speaks for itself. But the all around dedication for the rest of the coaches in the state goes without mention, the wrestling community in RI is great.....

Well the teams being talked of are on fire duel meet wise, but tourny wise, JHS is right up there, EWG 3 possible champs plus back door pts should put them in top 4 no problem, LaSalle, Georges possible champ, and a handful of other placers but not a lot of depth as a tourny team. Vets 3 possible champs, plus lourenco, and hurst for back door pts, EP 1 possible 2 champs, plus backdoor pts. It all comes down to the brackets, count no one out. Best of luck to all

I would put Mt Hope in that mix too... Might not have a single champ but several possible finalists, and numerous place finishers if they wrestle to their capabilities.
Top 10 teams in non particular order
Vets EP Cumb BH EWG MtH Linc JHS LSA NK Pon or Westerly could sneak in.

I would say that Hendricken is the most consistent team in RI @ this point and places 2 thru 5 are up for grabs..EWG certainly has 3 top finishers but it will take more than that, the twins and for that matter Neff are unbelievable but its also a team effort that will put them up there, how did they do as a team in the Tournaments? How many did they win this year,I imagine a few at least.....Good luck to all,it will be fun!!!!!!!!!
