I don't think the top 220's have faced each other much this year. Zicus did decision Robey in a dual, but Sauer hasn't faced Robey and, Zicus and George didn't wrestle in the Cumberland final. This week George should face Sauer, so that might be revealing. Am I alone in thinking that that top 6 at 220 could beat all the heavyweights in the State except for Jonah? Colansante is the only returning place-winner at 285 besides 2X champ Aurelio and he's been beaten by at least two of the top 220's. Winn and I think Leclair have also lost to a 220. Note the lack of 285 pounders entered in the last three Freshmen State Championships (a total of 9, not an average, a TOTAL), and the lack of competition at that weight is starting to show. Of course, two of the 285 place-winners from last season dropped to 220 this season (Zicus and Sauer), so that has a bearing on 220 seeming to be so much stronger than 285 in RI, IMHO.

Agreed^ I believe both zicus and robey have beaten Colasante. They are all staying away from Aurillio as he can beat them all, so 220 is much deeper, I'm surprised this point in the season some of the younger non senior 220s haven't bumped up to be finalists.

Switchit, not to take away from Zicius's state title but he did wrestle Hemme from Chariho in the finals that year, just to give insight to the depth of that weight class, but again Zicuis is a tough kid. And surprisingly LeClair is 19-5 on the season, losses all out of state (he did miss a few in state matches) no losses to any 220's. But def a 1 man weight class @ hwt.

Robey (barr) is one of the D2 kids I had in mind. Nice skills, and just an all around great athlete at that weight. But i just heard that he may have got injured tonight at dual meet in naraganset? dont know any details and maybe it no big thing. i hope that he's ok and will be ready for states.
also, heard that Gallagher rolled tonight. but Tomasi may have some kind of injury too?

Thanks for the update, the results were what I expected as I knew Sauer would push Georges and by the looks of it he hasn't been pushed very much this year. Should be interesting at states.
