Ladies and gentlemen the way things went down this year was not right. Lets starting working on resolving the Youth New England now. The kids are the ones suffering. Yes, more kids got to wrestle this weekend because the two tournaments allowed some alternates if other states didn't show up,but in a lot of our brackets it was only RI and CT. There has got to be a better way, either work it out so there is one tournament or none. This is a breakdown of number of competitors at each class in each bracket at the 2 tournaments.
Nashua NH USA - RI

265lbs- (RI) 3

total (NH) 307 kids (RI) 94 kids
Some weights are the same, some are a little different. Do not promote cutting weight, but alot of the weight classes are only a few pounds apart. Most of the wrestlers we know don't live on the edge of the weight bracket, so could have easily moved into another one. Saw someone post the RI was giving a pound allowance, that was their choice. In Nashua, you had to make whatever weight class you registered for, so it's obvious many of the kids who drove up north were able to deal with weight difference. The only way to get better is to face the best, we're not doing our middle school wrestlers any favors by having the 2 tournaments. We need them prepared for high school competition. I am not trying to offence anyone who chose going to one tournament over the other, this is to show the board members the number of competitors missed out on wrestling against yesterday.
