Congrats to Cumberland on winning their state title, along with their undefeated season. A weekend of highs for teams and lows. A few teams had a chance to seal the deal for the title this year but collapses along the way hampered those efforts. Congrats to Vets on 5 State Champs, and BH on a 2 nd place finish by 1 pt. Closest state title since 95 or 96 when top 3 Coventry, Mt Hope, and Vets were decided by 1 1/2 pts. This was a year where we've seen it all, top 2 guys in state out of a weight class, upsets, comebacks, overall a very exciting state tournament. Hopefully the concession won't be what it was for New Englands, we need to step it up and be a great host. As for the refs, I think they did a decent job, only a handful of calls on my behalf that Io disagreed with. And before people start casting stones over calls, remember reffing isn't easy, we're all human, and there are many subjective calls that is ones opinion. Now it's time for Team RI to grind out a tough week of practice and represent in RI at New Englands. We lost a few NE medal placers this yr, but to the wrestlers who stepped it up, it's time to raise the bar. Best of luck RI

In '06 Cranston West edged EP 168.5 to 168 Wow, didn't realize. I remeber MH losing by 1/2 pt, only because one of they're wrestlers was tossed from the tourny along w/ his pts earned, helping to extend Coventry's win streak.

I remember when Mt. Hope had the kid thrown out but I thought they ended up tied for the title that year...Maybe I'm wrong.

Kid punched Beckwith from SK in leg when he had body scissors, ref tossed him, bye bye state title. No def not a tie, Ask Hennesy I think was his sr yr. 2nd could of been a pt and 3rd 1 1/2 pt, but def 1 1/2 seperating top 3. Hey tell you boy I'll bring the moldy cookies next yr to our tri meet for him lol.

Warwick Vets actually tied Coventry for the State Title in 89-90. It was a tie due to our heavy weight swearing during his match and deducting a team point.

Wow. After watching dimaro v collici. It sure looked like nate was stuck. That was a long time to fight of your back. The camera was actually too close so it's hard to be sure from that view. But even live he looked like a goner.
