The wheel are already in motion for this year there will be flyer at the jv and freshman states as well as the varsity states. We have four tournaments already booked. Last year my son wrestled 70 times between march and June that is the goal again this year. Kyle Kanaga has stressed an interest in coaching the team. Mr. Labrie and myself will serve as managers. I've talked to plenty of you the first meeting is march 12 at 7 at the knight of Columbus in Warwick. We are very excited about the planning that has taken place. Schedule is about 90 percent set, coach Kyle is in, location is set and a back up is in place because interest is already out growing the current location. This is going to be the best off season for rhode island wrestling in my 15 years don't get left out

How are the wrestlers chosen for this team? If they are interested in being a part of it do they just show up to the meeting on the 12th?

I am not sure how they are doing George's Team R.I. but for our MQ team we are having wrestle offs. I believe they like us will have more than 1 team in order to accomodate other kids. The idea is to make R.I. better as a whole group. It is a great idea!

The next open practice for MQ is tomorrow and we will be giving information on our event list then and we will have several teams so there WILL be spots open wherever you are at. We will also be helping George to fill in spots when he needs them.

Why are there two RI "National Teams" forming?

I think it's 2 travel teams.... I would assume that there will be some collaboration between them.

The more teams we have of kids traveling in the off season the better. There will be times that the teams will workout together and sometimes the MQ kids will be representing the R.I. Team. The more opportunity the better. I think what George is trying to do is great for R.I. And MQ will try to help him as much as we can. I think it would be nice if we could get more teams and have Duels among various teams even within the state. I know of several kids that cannot afford to travel much but would be able to participate locally.

Thank you, I think putting together a national squad is exactly what the state needs!! which of the two teams will be doing the higher level tournaments?

Post by serge on Mar 6, 2012 16:25:04 GMT -5
For the most part I think it will be divided pretty evenly except for Fargo. I do not think MQ will go to fargo as a team. We have kids going to Cali, PA, NJ, Mass, CT, NY, and OK for camps/ tournaments. There will be different levels for each kid.
