just wondering what the thoughts around ri were about the idea of coaches bumping guys around vs just wrestling straight up
looking at box scores on riil.org you see that certain teams never have the same lineup while other teams use the same line up week after week

i've had some coaches tell me that if they win the coin toss then they are winning the dual meet but if they lose the coin flip then they are loosing the dual meet...is it the coach's priority to get their wrestlers ready for the state tournament or to win dual meets?
the coach then explained that because his team and his opponent didn't have 190 and that their 182 was alot better than his that if he wins the coin toss he makes it so that the other team sends out their wrestler first at 182 then he doesn't send his out and then sends his out at 195 to take the forfeit....crazy that dual meets would come down to the coin toss

Bump... But I've also bumped the other way at the detriment to the team. At the end of the season I've bumped to get a matchup I wanted to force the two best wrestlers against each other for seeding later on at states, couldn't win division so put one of my wrestlers in the best place to be successful later on.
As for the question always bump to win trade six or make sure better kid matches up with better kid to try and come out 1-3 points ahead between 2 weight classes.

It's the coach's responsibility to do both, and he can do both bump to win a match as well as getting a wrestler ready for states by figuring on power points. From the wrestler, or fan perspective it's not always as simple as you wrestle the best to get ready for the best. Once the season is half way thru or over we're figuring power points for many wrestlers other than our own to determine where our wrestlers will be in the bracket. I know of one coach who goes above us all on figuring, lol. The seeding criteria is something fans and most wrestlers don't understand. Just as it is a team sport as it is an individule sport we owe it to both to do our best to win. As a coach I would never put an individules season before the team's season, as a wrestler works hard for the state tournament. So in a situation win a match/tournament, or a wrestlers best interest, Im going w/ the wrestlers best interest.
