Don't forget Matia Alvarez is also a MarcAurele wrestler for the past 2 year's. RI high school state champ 2010 - 2011 RI high school freshman state champ 2010 - 2011 RI middle school state champ 2009 - 2010
NE high school place finsher 2010 - 2011 NE midlle school champ 2009 - 2010
2x Gene mills champ 2010 & 2011 Empire Nationals champ 2010
You get what you put into it, no matter what club, gym, or school you go to. Being in a good club with good partner's to wrestle with also helps a great deal.

Wow, Not too bad RI presence for a club that was previously based out of CT. Now that MarcAurele is in RI look out!!!! I imagine we will see the bar raised for RI wrestling this year. This only helps RI wrestling!! Anyone who says otherwise is acting out of self interest or just plain scared. As the saying goes....."if you want to be the best you have got to wrestle the best"

"Some of the kids were excellent wrestlers..."Just from my perspective, my son never won a tournament championship prior to attending Marcaurele Wrestling. He wrestled for 3 years out of Warren, RI. He's been with Marcaurele now for a year and a half and went from a 3rd place finish in the 2010 RI States to the following: - 2011 RI Champion (new rules will prevent kids from border communities from participating in RI States)
- 2011 MA Champion
- 2011 CT Freestyle Champion
- 2011 Gene Mills Eastern Nationals Placer
- 2011 2nd Place Blue Hawk
- 1st Place Marshwoods.
- and many more...
My point is that prior to Marcaurele my son was a decent wrestler but not a champion. Since he started going to Marcaurele he's a contender and does well against most opponents. So basically TJ Marcaurele and his club coaches developed my son into the wrestler he is today. Hope this answers your question. KF

First things first, I take offense to the people post derogatory statements about anyone or any club on this site and claims responsibility for those comments as a "guest". If you are bold enough to make an insult, please be bold enough to create an account with a name.
Second, my son is a proud member of Team MarcAurele and has been under the instruction of TJ MarcAurele for almost two years. Before my son started going to MarcAurele he was an average wrestler at best and had only been wrestling for a rec club for one and a half years. At the rec club, my son was better than most but was not improving beyond that average stage even though we knew he had it in him to be better. All he needed was the right teacher and environment. At this time, he had a losing record of 21-28. My son barely qualified for the Massachusetts States by placing third at the state sectionals. At the Massachusetts State Championship, he placed dead last in the Novice 70lb division finishing 0-2 being teched in both matches and only scoring two points in the entire tournament. In February 2010, we made the decision to enroll at MarcAurele Wrestling despite the hour and half drive from Massachusetts, twice a week because we had admired the MarcAurele Wrestlers from afar and we had been told that MarcAurele was the best.
My son became a member but it took him awhile to become a champion. After a few months of wrestling at the club, we started to travel to New Jersey for summer tournaments at the advice of TJ because that is where the best wrestled in the off season. TJ said told us "To be the best, you have to wrestle the best. Even if you lose everytime, you are getting better because of your competition." My son posted a record of 0-29 in New Jersey which was frustrating to say the least. To be honest, we were ready to give up. TJ assured us that all these losses in the summer would pay off with wins during the next season. TJ was absolutely right.
The next season arrived and everything TJ said was correct. My son posted a record 47-17 with 33 pins. He also went from finishing third at the Massachusetts sectionals to placing first. At states, once again in the Novice 70lb division, he improved from 16th to 3rd and qualified for New England’s where he went 1-2 and finished 7th. This summer, we traveled to New York with the MarcAurele Dual Team and competed in the Northeast Youth Duals where he posted a winning record of 5-4. I know 5-4 doesnt sound like a really good day but when at one tournament you have a hand picked allstar team made up of multiple state and national champions, two teams from ohio , and elite clubs from New Jersy and New York, it is a great record. My son wrestle nine of the best 70lbs kids in the country and pinned a National Champion which would have never been possible in without MarcAurele's help. In New Jersey, unlike last year’s nightmare, he posted a winning record and even won a tournament by beating kids from other elite clubs from Scorpions, Razor, and many more. The other thing has changed from previous years is that kids now talk about my son. When we are at a tournament and the bracket sheets, its an unbelievable feeling to hear other kids see my son's name talk about how good he is and how they think he will beat him. i know what its like to see a studs name and start thinking to myself, damn, here we go again. To think my son is now in that category after a short period of time astounds me.
My son’s success is all due to the instruction and drive that has been given to him by TJ MarcAurele and the extended family at the club. My son has developed many friendships with team members and the coaches have been great to him. Making the choice to wrestle at MarcAurele was one of the best decisions we have ever made.

The only reason for this post is to demonstrate that Marcaurele produces home grown champs too. They don't just inherit disenfranchised wrestlers from other clubs as the earlier post seems to imply. My son was a second yr wrestler when he began to attend Marcaurele. He got the opportunity to face some of the best kids the club had to offer and make no mistake, the team has talent. This experience helped him improve. Soon he was competing with those kids and helping them take their skills to the next level too. (This is a great example of how a good club sustains itself.) He is starting his 3rd season of wrestling. He finished last yr on the podium at the RI State Championship, MAWA, Gene Mills and in almost every RI/CT tournament he wrestled in. Does Marcaurele have the coaches, teammates, facilities, you bet. Add the dedication of your kid and it is a combination that is tough to beat. Rather than judge from a distance, come down to Westerly and try it out.

There are some really great clubs in RI like MAYO QUANCHI and NORTH EAST. "TOUGHEST KIDS IN RI" like you said your self WIZZER it's a FLYER, PROMOTING a product and thats all it is. SORRY IT DIDN'T MENTION THE CLUB YOU SUPORT..... And DUCK UNDER "THIS ONLY HELPS RI WRESTLERS". No but it will be good for RI wrestlers to have one more GOOD club. I hear so many people talk about how good RI wrestling USED to be. So yeah one more good club would "RAISE THE BAR". Now like an ADUILT would say to a CHILD " IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING NICE TO SAY SHUT YOUR ------- MOUTH.... Sincerely Mr. ALVAREZ

Wizzer, give it a break already. I posted that about Warren Wrestling because it's the truth as it relates to my son and my son only. Others with Warren Wrestling Club have won State Championships but I was addressing the situation I experienced.
It's a fact that upon enrolling my son in Marcaurele Wrestling Club he took first place at championship tournaments that he previously had not while wrestling under Warren.
With that being said, does it mean I'm throwing Warren under the bus? No... Warren has a nice beginner/rec program and the head coach there is very committed to the kids.
Stop throwing out these wild allegations just to stir the pot.
As far as "toughest kids in New England" it's a promotion, has nothing to do with humility. If you want to see humility come down to the club and you'll see humility 3 and 4 times per week by dozens of kids. The club isn't flash and sparkle loaded with kids that have painted mohawks. It's filled with hard working youth looking to excell and learn.
The first post was marketing/promotion, pure and simple. The flyer developed says "Unleash the Beast". Hope you don't start accusing us all of being blue monsters in your next post.
