April 13th, 2011 Tim O’Keefe steps down as Lowell High wrestling coach Posted by Danny Ventura at 10:21 am
Citing increasing family obligations, Tim O’Keefe tendered his resignation as Lowell’s wrestling coach.
A standout wrestler at Lowell, O’Keefe spent four years as an assistant coach at the school before taking over the program eight years ago. Under O’Keefe’s watch, the Red Raiders captured a New England team title as well as four Division 1 state championships.
“It’s a bittersweet time for me,” said O’Keefe, who will remain at the school as a teacher. “I’ve given 16 years to the program, but the time and demands to do the job just became too much. I have a seven-year-old (Molly) and a four-year-old (Liam) at home and I want to spend more time with them.”
