I have to say, Chariho had a pretty good tourni. This was the group of seniors that won freshmen states, i believe. I'm not sure what they placed but I think i counted 5 medals.
I have to give the 215 a lot of credit. I remember when he was a freshman and never thought in a million years he would be in the state finals four years later (losing in OT). Thats pretty rare these days to come out as a freshman and progress that much, congratulations.
Who won the tourni? That was Vets senior class to do it with. EP looked like they had a good tourni also.

East Providence had a great tournament. 3 State Champs and 1 runner up. Thats success.

If you say that is rare how about at 285 Harris coming out as a Sophmore placing second?

I think Coach F, and crusaders point was that neither wrestler had any middle school or youth experience leading up to high school, so a few yrs are spent on the basics and instinct. Not often now a days do you see to many finalists who are true freshman w/o experience. But it does happen. Looks like Aurelio might follow in his mentors (Hannon) footsteps and become a 3X champ. Not much in the hwt network future to challenge him.

You never know... Every Now and then great heavy weights come out of woodwork. Burriville, Woonsocket, Lincoln have all had seniors that were massive and did damage as first year heavyweights. Aurilo is tough though and could very well be a 3xer

EP will be tough for the next few years. They're barely graduating anyone except Burrows.

And Ferri had a solid middle school team similar to EP.
Mancuso Giblin and Turchetta will hopefully be turning that program back around to it's glory days of late 90s.
They were 1 point away from wining d2. If they could have squeaked one point out of a 40-40 tie to Ponagasett this year d2 was there's. Go panthers

i respectfully disagree, both were strong for sure, but ferri had strong individuals, where as riverside is strong as a team all around. ferri had i think 5 champs, riverside only 2. so both still respectable and strong but not quite similar.

Wisest of owls, you are right on. I'm pretty sure most of the coaches in the state could take a hungry, 1st year wrestler as a freshman and make him a good enough to medal by senior year. The trick is the mental game. Meaning, keep him (or her...i don't want to start a riot) hungry. Some green (new) wrestlers get frustrated because they can't make varsity early on, some get frustrated because they keep getting pinned. Its real coaching that keeps those kids around and motivated to get better.
