[ RI Preview ]
Coventy has: 125 - Hunt 130 - D'Alessio-Dupre 135 - Rioles 145 - Sinnott 152 - Cocaine
Narragansett has: 119 - Minty 145 - Farrell 171 - Nelson 189 - Smurro (if he's at weight) 215 - Millen
Middletown has: 125 - Brietzke 140 - Quintanilla 171 - Butler 215 - Whitney
Toll Gate has: 119 - Travers 145 - Audette
Westerly has: 112 - Malaghan 119 - S. Conroy 130 - K. Conroy 145 - Caputo 152 - Capaldi
[ CT Preview ]
Griswold has: 112 - Allen 125 - Labbe 145 - Botts Maybe more? Either way, didn't have a very good showing at the Waterford tourney.
Pomfret has: 125 - Labeef 152 - Deary Maybe more?
Woodstock has: 119/125? - Bove ? - Smutnick? 171? - Mironchenko 285? - Sandness
[ MA Preview ]
Springfield Central has: 119 - Wilson 171 - Collins And probably a bunch of other tough kids. They are ranked in the top 20 as a team in Mass.
Wilmington has: 135 - Sughrue (stud) Again, probably a couple other standouts.
As for Carmel, NY, they are perennially at the top of the final standings at the Chad, and always bring an impressive roster full of solid wrestlers which usually includes a number of studs. I expect a lot of the same this year.
Should be quite a few interesting match-ups this Saturday in Westerly. I like what they've done with this tournament. It's always great to see interstate competition and they have certainly diversified their field of teams over the years.

Thanks for the insight, massfan. Malaghan, Hunt, Farrell, Nelson, and Smurro should all have their hands full then. Any details on the other three Mass. teams?

Finals 103-152
103 - All Carmel, NY final 112 - Malaghan won by pin in the first vs. tough Springfield Central kid 119 - R.J. Labeef (Pomfret) defeated S. Conroy 125 - Carmel kid defeated tough Springfield Central kid, close match 130 - K. Conroy came roaring back in the end but lost 10-9 to Hayek, great match 135 - Carmel kid defeated Sugrhue from Wilmington, MA (Carmel kid got OW) 140 - Carmel kid won against another out-of-state kid 145 - Farrell dominated Deary (Pomfret) 152 - Capaldi won in close one against a Woodstock Academy kid
Can't say for sure after that. Anybody who can, fill in the blanks. Don't remember the 3rd places either.
I think Caputo took 3rd at 145. Minty went 2 and out, rough day for him. I think Travers was 3rd at 119.
Team Top 4
1. Springfield Central, MA 2. Carmel, NY 3. Westerly 4. Narragansett

215 wasn't a strong enough field to desreve OW recognition. Congrats to Whitney though, as for Millen, I don't think he's that good, but good enough in a weak field.
Now the 135 (Davidson) from Carmel pinned all his matches in :49, 1:12, 1:25 and then the #1 MA ranked Sughrue in :55. He was impressive and dominant in his 4 matches that totaled 4:21.
Over all great tournament, seemed to be well ran, 4 mats one gym, tough competition. Good for RI to wrestle these tough out of staters to see where they stand. Maybe need to get a few more stud teams in to boost up the tournaments core. Westerly placing 3rd over Gansett was a shocker, Gansett scored 30-40 more pts than Westerly at the South County a few weeks ago. Will be interesting to see how the season finishes up. Good luck to everyone the rest of the way

You're saying because he almost lost in the semis he should have been OW? That doesn't make any sense. OW goes to someone who had a dominant or outstanding performance, oftentimes unexpectedly. Collins clearly showed that he is a strong wrestler and tops in MA for sure but not an OW performance relative to guys in other weight classes on that particular Saturday.
