Were there any teams or wrestlers in particular that made some noise this weekend that was unexpected? Let’s hear everyones thoughts. I personally did not see Marchione pinning Sangare or even losing to Riggs that close. Heard Riggs was extremely sick the day of. Also, a lot of people were talking about Coppolino easily making the finals but he losses to Bailey in the Semis and then Shaw in the 3rd place match Marchione did win decisively against Sangare this year but the pin was definitely an added bonus for him.

dunno about grifka but the rest yes. both doughtery brothers could place for sure funny cuz the 160 Dougherty didn’t make new England’s IMO Dougherty got screwed in that match, the ref didn't pull the trigger on the stall call a few times when Dougherty stood and Duff hung on or pushed out. I didn't see an active attempt to return him to the mat.

I can understand your opinion but I don’t think you can take anything away from Duff he wrestled a great tournament and deserves to represent Rhode Island in New Englands

But I can't look past the non call, I could see maybe once but not 2-3 times, a ref has to be able to make that tough call. Either way is was a good match to watch

The “illegal slam” or “biting” on maguire. It could’ve really impacted the title race you never know so many little things that could’ve gone the other way and Cumberland’s right there

If the referee doesn’t first point out reporting to the table without laces being properly secured it shouldn’t later in the match count as a point for the opponent.

personally Brady Burke impressed me, two big comeback wins and a late 5 point move to win in the blood round, also Zarrella I thought wrestled great beating Lynch twice and losing to Joyce in a very close match Agreed, Zarella looked impressive this tournament. I also think that Regiosa 120 needs to be mentioned. He wasn’t on many radars coming into the season and really made a name for himself in what proved to be a very tough weight class. This also goes for Cooper 132. I also think Burke 132 looked very good. Van Heyningen 138, and Felix 106 definetly stood out and looked good as well

Butera trips on air

Agreed. If you are referencing the 195 match. It looked as if the BH coaches pointed it out AFTER the match and then awarded the point to tie it up.Outcome was the same however.

My sleepers at the state tournament: 132: Cooper Hope 152: Maguire Cumb-Even though he got DQed he was wrestling a very good tournament 160: Brown NK-After the loss to the Hendricken kid in the dual, Brown stepped it up and won two huge matches leading to the finals 170 Clark EP- This kid is tough he only lost to placers Thatcher and Gallman in the Bloods 285 Botello-Robi Pono- This kid was huge for Pono scoring getting 4th in the state and beating Mikey in the consi semis look out because this kid is a up and coming wrestler

Seems as though a bunch of children or very immature adults took over this thread. Better yourselves people.
