The biggest, baddest tournament in New England during the season, surpassed only by the New England Championships in March, the George Bossi Lowell Holiday tournament was held at the Tsongas Center December 28 & 29. It's even better than N.E.'s because schools bring complete teams so depth as well as talent shows. Had strong representatives from every New England state except RI; Mt. Hope was scheduled but didn't make it as far as I can tell. Results were topped by the usual suspects: Timberlane, Mt. Anthony Union, Chelmsford MA, Southington CT. Connecticut had five individual champs from just a handful of schools and looks to be the dominant state in New England high school wrestling again this year. MAU won with Timberlane second, but I don't know if either is better than defending N.E. champ Danbury CT which I believe has three wrestlers ranked No. 1 in New England, all of whom have placed in national tournaments, and others capable of placing. Some neat matches with Timberlane's N.E. Champ and nationally-ranked Connor McGonagle shutting out Wayland MA 5th in N.E. Ramazan Attasauov at 132, and Southington's Shaun Wagner pinning N.E. 6th Evan Goodall of Chelmsford. Defending N.E. Champ Paul Calo of Southington was dominant up a weight to 170.
