Not the biggest mid-season tournament (all Mass. schools except for BH) but an important one since it matched Mass. No. 1 Chelmsford (winner of the Lowell tourney) and RI 3X champs Hendricken, along with Mass. No. 4 St. Johns Prep. And that's the way they finished, as Chelmsford won rather handily over Hendricken 248-195 and SJP a distant 3rd. Only two champs for BH but they were significant. Celico won at 132 over 3 wrestlers ranked in Mass., beating No. 3 Murray of Chelmsford (who has beaten Stamas this season) and No. 2 ranked Holland of Danvers. Sauro beat Mass. top-ranked Settles of Lowell 5-3. Rivet, Johnson, Martino and Cole all finished second to wrestlers ranked in Mass., so a pretty good showing, especially with no DiSano, who according to Masswrestling.com had beaten eventual champ Laydon of New Bedford in a dual meet in December (and no Nappi, of course). However, I don't know if Chelmsford was missing any starters as well. Also for Hendricken Williams was 3rd at 106 with Swanson, Arcand and Monti all placing 5th. Team Scores: Place Team Score 1. Chelmsford 248.50 2. Bishop Hendricken 195.50 3. St Johns Prep 142.50 4. Lincoln Sudbury 127.00 5. Greater Lowell 109.00 6. New Bedford 102.00 7. Woburn 100.50 8. Danvers 98.00 9. Dedham 85.00 10. Lowell 79.50 11. Tewksbury 76.50 12. Agawam 76.00 13. Newton North 65.00 14. Longmeadow 63.00 15. Chicopee 62.00 16. Chicopee Comp 46.00 17. Dean Tech 42.00 18. Andover 27.00 Brackets attached. Martino lost to the 3rd seed Dokos in Mass by 1 pt could have went either way. There is no big difference between 1-3 seed in Mass as Dokos lost by 1 pt at end of match against #1 seed. Martino was out for nearly 2 weeks with no mat work and this was his 1st wrestling. He'll see him again in the New England's.

Holland also beat Stamas this year at the Chelmsford Tournament. Masswrestling shows a win by fall in the semis at 1:44.
