Ponagansett abandoning their middle school program says a lot about the program.

Couple of thoughts:

We can all see whats goin on here but bottom line is RI wrestling minus the few CT and MA kids is getting much better because of the clubs in the area, not because of one indvidual coach. Kids have access to yr round wrestling all over the place if they can afford it which betters the sport along with more kids traveling off season.

Pathways was intended for education, not sports. However there are loop holes and now they are being exposed not just in wrestling, but in football, baseball, hockey, and soccer as well. How many kids play sports in NK, that dont live in NK? I predict the RIIL might make some changes in near future reagding all this.

Another question, Why is wrestling the only sport with one state title unlike the 4 in soccer, football, hockey, etc..

You want to improve wrestling more than we already have. Participation state titles are not the answer.  We need more NE qualifiers.  I can't speak for everyone, but personally I'd rather win nothing than have a D4 state title... whatever that means.  I know some schools like to move down to D2 occasionally just to win the division title.  Kinda lame if you ask me.... 

We could add a qualifier for D1 and call it that... or some other umbrella term (sectional, divisional, class, league, regional...)  Number of spots in the bracket per division should be different at each weight based on coaches polls/ the same algorithm they use at the D1 level.  Each weight would have the same amount of total wrestlers, but different number of qualifiers from each division.  There should also be a certain amount of at-large bids or "wild cards" to qualify.  This will never happen, but it might fix issues we see on a yearly basis.  This can be done in an email without a meeting and if coaches don't answer by a certain date, their input is simply just left out.  The algorithm method should be done for NE, as everyone will always vote for their own state to have more.  

We need to hold ourselves to a higher standard than everyone else - that is how you become great.

meant to take out Lincoln from Hendricken and keep Narragansett 190, and you are correct there was a lot of copying and pasting because I felt like your rankings were pretty accurate. Just a few discrepancies where we have already seen tournaments and matches with guys at certain weights and I do feel like there should be some preference given to guys who placed in the state tournament, especially at the same weight the year prior, and as far as hood and Farnsworth, that's just my opinion based off of the wrestling styles of one another hood generally relies on strength, and in a matchup of strength, I would take Farnsworth over it because they both have a similar level if that makes any sense. also, we are missing every single kid from Hope including a returning state champion and multiple state Place finishes. I do know that Hiraldo lives in New Jersey now and Perez is at prep school, but it would be very sad to see that program who finished second last year fold both Monteiros would have to be in the mix

Truly believe that Farnsworth takes hood in that matchup, excited to see it hopefully they battle in the Dual and do not duck one another for a better idea. Fine was missing from the 190 as the presumed champ, LSA returning placer Lynch, Silverman from COV is a force but 144 is Deeeep in attempts to avoid Joyce at 138 and Gabe at 150 you would expect that. 215 Wilcox over Alchihed as he recovers from an injury, he may fall put of top 3, dont be surprised if DiOrio sneaks in and wins it.

Enough about Rankings, any potential good match ups this week or over the break?. We all know how alot of these coaches bump away during duals which is another reason the system is messed up. Run a qualifier for everyone, then I bet you see more quality match ups during the season before the post season..

My assumption is they believe farnsworth gets better seeding since New England placement and have hood deal with Davis but wouldn’t hood still be ahead due to actually competing in state competition and winning 2 state titles as well
