from the big Snow storm coming this weekend will this cause the tournament to be cancled?? if so what will RIL do??

It's RIIL. I am sure they are trying to come up with a contingency plan, but I am sure it won't be easy. The issue with the predicted storm is that it will go from Friday evening to Saturday AM which rocks both days. Sunday isn't a real option as you can't start till noon. Wonder if D2 coaches would cancel their tournament in favor of keeping the frosh/JVs if it came to that. Maybe they would run it the Sunday and Monday of vacation week since Monday is a holiday.

Well Sunday, Coventry hosts the youth tourny, so that would be out. I'd guess they will try to do since it's 1) revenue, and 2) Coventry I'm sure has bought all concessions.

Is Coventry the only place to Hold the States for Fr/JV ?What about Cumberland or the same place they hold the Varsity States,these are probably the best 2 venues in the State,Coventry isnt always the greatest place for such a large tourney? Do they bid on this or how is it decided thru RIIL?

Coventry holds it pretty well and 5 mats is nice. No way will it be at providence center.

allheart I heard that it was moved to the 10th through an announcement made at my school. I didn't think that they could move the tournament to next weekend because there is sectionals.

Lots going on, I thought Warwick Pal had a tournament there this sunday, If they are going to have Freshman States on Sunday I don't think they can start untill Noon time, going to get out of there about 2 AM Monday!!

Due to the impending weather forecast, the Freshman/Junior Varsity Wrestling Tournament scheduled for this weekend has been postponed. The tournament is rescheduled for Sunday, February 17th at Coventry High School at 9am. This will be a one-day tournament
From RIIL. It's stupid that a youth tournament is bouncing a high school tournament this Sunday. Puts lots of kids from D2 at a disadvantage. Should be moved to Monday the 18th since its a holiday.

The youth tournament scheduled for this Sunday in Coventry has also been cancelled. My thought is they are thinking about the clean up after the storm.

They have a tournament Friday and Sat the 15/16. So say you are a tough freshman you will have wrestled 4+ matches fri and sat then another 4 matches Sunday. That's also 3 days of making weight in a row.

Only advantage is they should get growth plus three, but on the other hand if one of the other wrestlers are just a little off ready it gives them some very important time to tweek up some things. I agree things just got a lil tougher for D2, this sport is amazing on how it relates to lifes struggles, I just love the character it forges in these young athletes. And y is my Karma a -2 am I that much of an %&&,lol

Has the JV/Freshman States been cancelled? If so, why would the powers in charge make such a decision. I'm sure many families have plans for vacation which starts Monday?

Freshma/JV's moved to Monday the 18th, all time frames remain the same. I'm assuming, the snow as well as the freshman wrestling late tonight plays a role into the change. I don't like the fact that this is digging into state wk practice though. |

They should have started the Tourney on Sunday with an hour or two delay,1 or 2 inches and the Liberals in RI declare a dam Blizzard....The little Guys are down there braving this huge storm WRESTLING in South County...Lets Wrestle !!!!!!!

Chariho did a great job, they are a relitivly young team now I think could be making some real noise in the next few years. What about Hendricken freshmen , it is like the 4th year in a row they won freshman states I think, and everyone in the finals won with a pin I am pretty sure?
