Toughest draw I think is Jerrel at 113. I think with Alvarez out, he would have a shot of being in the State finals. But now, he has Howard in the Semis and lets say he moves on and takes 3rd... He would still get Howard in the Semis again at the states because D2 flipped the 3 and 4 seed a few years ago... tough draw for a talented wrestler.

this has always been a controversial topic, but since the brackets are already pre-determined and people have done it in the past, is if jerrel looses to howard today at 113 his he better off with "an injury default" to take fourth to set him self up with seeing howard at the state finals instead of state semi-finals..since the ultimate goal is states and not sectionals and eg is not in the running the sectional title?....this is the issue with having already pre-determined brackets...is rhode island the only state left in the dark ages? i hope jerrel does this and maybe people would start thinking about changing this pre-determined state bracket

If an injury would give him a better chance at the finals in the states. Then I would be injured.

he would have d1-1 in the quarters..most likely cumberland i wanna say, wouldn't that mess up cumberland's chances for state title if jerrel beat him in the quarters

I don't know if this would be good advice? Even though i can see your point the action of getting what you feel is ' fair' would be contrary and conflicting with what is right morally or ethically.... i likened this too kids believing that if they go out and lose a match ( sometimes, not all the time) that they'll be able to dodge and buy doing so will get a better places in an up coming tournament in the bracket..! My advice would be to take care of business where that business is supposed to be taking care of. The politics of the sport in the venue that's already been orchestrated for it and the kids on the mat. this has always been a controversial topic, but since the brackets are already pre-determined and people have done it in the past, is if jerrel looses to howard today at 113 his he better off with "an injury default" to take fourth to set him self up with seeing howard at the state finals instead of state semi-finals..since the ultimate goal is states and not sectionals and eg is not in the running the sectional title?....this is the issue with having already pre-determined brackets...is rhode island the only state left in the dark ages? i hope jerrel does this and maybe people would start thinking about changing this pre-determined state bracket

Wrestling is no longer just a head on head chalange.Ithas turned into a chess match this is why coaches bump weight classes in duel meets, sit wrestlers for power point reasons ect..ect...If you have to play the game to put yourself in a better position to place higer then play the game.I think the good advice would be injury default

If someone is not injured and claims loss by injury default--that is cheating plain and simple--that's my feeling-

I agree with jzappa. Just go out there and wrestle your a$$ off. All this ducking and dodging or faking injury is B.S. You will never get better by avoidind the best in your weight class and, at some point your going to have to face them anyways.

NE brackets are pre-determined. All state brackets are set, it's just division 1 doesn't have a qualifier, so power points seed states for D1. Even if there was a D1 qualifier, Jerrell still would of lost and would still be in the same boat. Now what's the difference where he wrestles him? Finals, semi finals, he still has to beat him to be the champ. Now you could say the same thing for new englands. Same situation IF Alverez was still around, why not take a dive in finals to get on other side of bracket of Bridson? The cream rises to the top, to be the best you have to beat the best.

"To be the best, you have to wrestle the best". I have never seen so much stalling like this year. Boys and girls, you wrestle, then go out there and wrestle. Don't dance, circle, and ride the edge, till you are out of bound. If you don't have a lose here or there, then you will never know what you need to improve on?
The boys or girls, you don't want to wrestle, how are you ever going to know if you can beat them, if you keep running?
