Altieri did a great job, but so did Vicente and he had a tough mountain to climb to make it to the top. And he did it well, Great kid. Well Deserved and pulled a big upset in RI.

I think the right wrestler got the OW. It was a big upset and he earned it wrestling hard through the whole match. He is a class act and a great example to all the up incoming wrestlers...

Well put Mr. Alvarez. I'm sure your son will win a couple of OW's himself in route of his four state championships. He's fun to watch !!

Vincente deserved it..... Alvarez showed he is the real deal...it will be great to see how he and Johnny A progress and grow during the years..... it is not that you 'don't give it to a freshmen' but lets look at it like this....most folks agreed Altieri and Alvarez would dominate and win...and they did..... Vincente did something no one though would happen and that at times overshadows others who may be going toward an OW... the way he attacked and attacked and never gave in, in a very tough class with Adams and Hurst to take down a ranked NE wrestlers was outstanding..... lets stand and clap for him.... Altieri and Alvarez will continue to do what they do - lets see what happens !

I thought Vicente deserved it as well, and not many coaches (not that the coaches voted on this but the refs) think w/ that insight, some feel because one pinned all the way through, that that is deserving, but the competition in the weight class needs to be looked at as well. I thought that the refs were going to give 125 best finals (which I also thought was), and Meyers the OW for being a 4x State Champ. Not that Meyers wasn't dominant, and hats off to him for his accomplishments, but like canu said, Vicente beat some tough competition. I remember TJ Hepburn getting the OW at the Lancer one year, problem I had was he got a forfeit in the finals, some people don't look outside the box.
