Draft List to start season. Some names have been moved since they were seniors in the above mentioned lists. 1. If there are others that are here that are seniors, just comment graduated. 2. If some names are out of wt. class, just comment with correct one. 3. If qualified names are missing, Just comment, dont be offended. They can be added so Rhode Island has an accuarate list to follow through out season. 4. These are not in any order, just a preseason list. 106 Lemowitz Pon Newton Sci DeRoy EP Sabatelli TG 113 Belini Pon Hulkow BH Hiraldo H Hughes Sci Dinucci CW Garcia Cen 120 Davis Cen Hood Pon Correia MH Monterio H 126 Farnworth Cov McGrew BH Martins John Cogswell NK Telinsky Nar Douganmala Pon 132 Ellis Cov Perez Pon White SK Wilding BH MOntanez H Voute AIW 138 Joyce Pon Armstrong Cov Neishal NP Mazierego Cent Lynch LS Dib Linc 145 Vital Pon Rocco Bar Mian Cent Tejada MP 150 Boysseau Sci DaCosta Cumb McConnel Nar Davis Pon Dempsey NP 157 Currier Ch Murphy PIl Thibedeau MH 165 Reall Pon Watts Pil Pappas CW Cruz Cent Campbell BH 175 Oconnor Pil Rivera Cent 190 Fine BH Marshesault Pon Tavares Hope Brotka Cent 215 Diorio Pon Wilcox Woon Jones Cov Noriega Cent Alchihad CW Raposa Cumb 285 Herrera Woon Jones Cov Acosta Cent Harris LS Ghazal Linc 113 Jacob O Pilgrim 120 Marcos Tollgate 132 Ben Tollgate Sectional Finalist 138 Kason Tollgate 145 McCarthy MtHope State Placer 145 Miguel MtPleasant 150 Matthew Pappas Freshman State Champ 157 Rocco Barrington State Placer Up Heaver 175 Jack G Narr 175 Dante R CW Freshman Phenom 190 Aaron B Lincoln Placed Last year 190 Cole Hosey NP 215 Lincoln Hendrcken 285 Narragansett Notes Cruz Graduated 165 and Cambell may not be wrestling tavers 190 graduated

First thought—Perez from Hope is a New England Finalist and a State Champ, not sure how he was forgotten from the rankings.
Second thought—-whoever from Iron Faith came on here and listed a bunch of kids who go to Iron Faith, just because they go to Iron Faith doesn’t mean they’re gonna place. Half of those kids haven’t placed in a tournament.

Transfers should be illegal especially for a school like pono who has been getting transfers for years. It’s not that impressive for them to be good when they get wrestlers from all over New England Hoods-Mass Diorio-transfer from lasalle Jamari lowman-Connecticut Cole McGill-Narragansett Colby vital-transfer from Hendricken Preston-Cranston west Not that impressive top 50 in the nation 😂

Can someone please make a more accurate ranking list? I see names of kids who have already graduated are no longer living in Rhode Island and in weight classes from last year that we know most will not be in the same weight class as last year. Also we know Pono will be top team. What other teams you got in your top? Who’s the dark horse that’s gonna have people talking?

A couple of things: Farnsworth going 120 is brilliant, and he would be going at it with Hood in a hunt for not only a state but an NE title. I would love to see that match up. Hood is oversized for 120 and looks very solid, But so is Stone, a great match-up!
If you are looking for a Perez vs. Ellis match-up, look again. Perez was huge at 130 at Journeymen, losing to world champion Lillenhdall 3-2, and Ellis is going 126!!
At 138, Joyce had a monster, Journeyman, beating 2x prep nationals placer Arborgast and 2x Jersey placer Ortega 8-2, who coincidentally beat his brother Jacob Joyce the year before!
113 Bellini is being underestimated. You heard it here: he wins a title!!
144 Mark this one; the finals match-up between Vital, who transferred to Pono and McCarthy Mt. Hope, is an excellent matchup. I call it the Octopus vs. the Bull regarding styles, fun to watch,
@157 Drew Currier has arrived, very happy for a kid that has worked so hard, I see no one standing in his way for a title!!
I also think everyone is underestimating the development of Diorio; don't be shocked if he wins it all at 215!
I see Marchessault dropping to 175 and winning a title, though I would love to see that match-up with Fine!
Unfortunately, Perez transferred, but good for him!
The biggest problem for the state and the rest of NE is with all the talent flocking to Pono this year, it reduces the talent pool and actually hurts RI for the foreseeable future. Gone are the days of parody, Pono may win 4/5 NE titles going forward!!
Two year's ago I said this is the Golden Age of RI wrestling but when the Fines, Ellis, Boyossou, and the rest graduate, the talent pool of RI goes down, it was the rivalry between Serge, Joyce, Smith, Henessey, Germain, and Clark that created this golden era that like it or not is coming to and end, the emergence of the Jarrells will be the next chapter in RI wrestling!
Looking forward to a great season!

Not that impressive top 50 in the nation 😂 I’m more saying yes they are ranked but to recruit so many wrestlers vs schools like Cumberland or Coventry isn’t the same, keep only kids in your area I don’t see anything wrong with allowing guys who have a chance to wrestle at the next level go to a situation where they’ll have top tier coaching & training partners. Generally I think it’s good for RI wrestling and good for the guys who are transferring… in a sport where the team title is a secondary consideration I don’t see why it matters

So obviously some weights can change but looking at who was registered at what weights so far is what led to some matchups. Pono is too stacked Perez wouldnt move up their whole lineup would have to change I assume they do things for the good of the team and wouldnt risk an evened out line up for 1 guys success Perez could win that 132 matchup possibly with ellis, as for all the talent flocking there eventually some guys will get sick of waiting bc there are backups there who wont start but elsewhere could be new england qualifiers, bellini will be a 3xer not sure about this year who knows! If MCCarthy is at 144 he goes to the finals and that would be a battle for him but does sitting out half the season hurt or help vital? I think all those coaches are still keeping this state growing its not over the playing fields will level again... unfortunate though that hope staff disassembled and left after a second place finish true public school with tough kids and a really hard task keeping the team together through the school year The Jarrells v oconnells are the next wave in growing the sport from outside of the high school rooms but will they ever step into a HS role? Preston dropping also seems likely for their lineup although theyre ok with him in either spot but he is listed as 175 on track... Diorio has so much potential I think he should be hungry after last year only moving up one place from his fresh campaign but he still has to win the pressure matchups. (This is almost a complete pono thread lol) Sad departures from RI wrestling out of hope with Hiraldo to NJ for his senior year and Isael to prep forfeiting his HS senior season, any word on the kid campbell from hendy he should be a finals lock if he wrestles but hearing he is out on the sport/program? farnsworth would be the first in state strength matchup hood wood face... hood got away with wins over conlan the more technical wrestler with his strength advantage but does he still have that advantage outside of the 106/113 category especially against a stud like stone. Look to see a mix lots of young champs and NE qualifyers and some potential 4 timers finishing up their careers... whats the word on the girls side gonna go with hendy is not a favorite in that category lol A couple of things: Farnsworth going 120 is brilliant, and he would be going at it with Hood in a hunt for not only a state but an NE title. The RIIL has changed its transfer policy. Athletes only miss the 1st 35 days of the season. Any wrestlers who transferred this offseason without a change of address, can compete starting Jan 1st.

My opinion for the top teams: D1: Pono Coventry Hendricken Cranston West Cumberland D2: Central Lincoln (don't see Lincoln beating Central at head to head and/or at Sectionals- actually see Central sneaking into Top 5)

Two Ponaganset sophomores showed out at Ironman this weekend!! Reall blood rounded and went 4-2 against some top notch comp! But he is committed!
Perez and Joyce made some noise!
Sophomore David Perez Beat Double Fargo AA And Greco National Champion Thomas Verette from Colorado #24 on the Flo 2026 Big Board in the first round 9-4. Lost a close one to previously ranked Casen Roark 3-2.
Sophomore Joseph Joyce lost to ranked wrestler and Oklahoma commit Hunter Hollingsworth 3-2, then went on a little run pinning Fargo AA Jacob Myers Colarado, Ohio State Placer Jett, Ohio State placer and top ranked DI 144 pounder and Northern Illinois commit Lucan O'Brien, he beat NHSCA Champ Turley from Virginia who is also #76 on the flo 2026 Big Board, and then lost to Big 10 Indiana commit Hart in the blood round 3-1.
Matscouts class of 2026 Big Board
Thomas Verrette #10 in the class of 2026 David Perez over Thomas Verette 9-4
Walker Turley #50 in the class of 2026 Joyce over Turley 3-1
