A few new rule changes for the upcoming high school season.
The biggest one of note is that the third stalling penalty, which used to be 2 points, will now be 2 points and the opponents choice of position.
2 big things to talk about with this:
1. As this was written in an article and the full rule has not been released yet, or I can't find it, I am not sure how this will affect stoppages during a match. Normally, the match is only stopped for a stall call when it is on the top wrestler and the wrestlers are not in a scoring situation. It is quite possible now that this stall call may come with an automatic stoppage and could play into some strategy?
2. Last year the NCAA actually lowered the penalty for stalling by taking it out of the penalty chart and made it 1 point penalty the whole match. In my opinion, this actually was better for the sport as refs felt compeled to call stalling quicker since they did not have the penalty of a DQ looming over their decision. I hope that making the penalty stiffer doesn't burden refs with a tougher decision. Now they'll have to weigh stopping the match, and with it it's momentum, so that they can reset the wrestlers. I know it might make me think twice as I may not want to take the attacking wrestler out of his scoring chance. We'll have to wait and see how the rule reads.

riwrestlingfan: What a great tribute Atlantaal! All three kids are special talents. I do rankings and wish I could rank them 1A B, and C. No matter who wins this weekend it will be a great story. Altieri for 4, Cody winning his first or Davol proving doubters wrong.

riwrestlingfan: I agree with you that Celico would be the favorite over Bloom, but I wouldn't count Cardosa out. I think that would be a pretty even contest. Both guys are studs
